Alex Moose
Hi all, I have a 2015 Edge Sport, in the tri white and I love the car. I was curious if anyone has had any luck finding a trunk rack for their Edge. Mine comes with the Vista roof so I don't think I can use a roof rack, so I was looking for a decent trunk rack. My car doesn't have a hitch so I can't buy a hitch rack. Anyone got an ideas? I don't wanna put the bikes in the trunk because this michigan rain has been making the trails and tracks muddy. Thanks
WingNut
You could probably use the Yakima Q-Towers to install a roof rack and then use one of Yakima bike mount options up there. Below are links to a few threads showing the Q-Towers installed on my '15 Edge Sport (without the vista roof or factory roof rails). I think based on the pictures and measurements I provide, you could see if the Q-Towers will work for you. http://www.fordedgef...ima#entry131712 http://www.fordedgef...ima#entry131563
Alex Moose
WingNut thanks for the reply. I ended up going to the local bike shop and they hooked me up with this rack. http://m.imgur.com/vkFRk9b
CinnamonEdge
I hope the top straps are attached the body panel and not the glass or the spoiler panel. That panel is going to rip off with the weight of bikes and your bikes will be dragged along the highway as your tailgate and bumper cover gets mangled from the remaining attachments. Even as it is attached now there is an extreme amount of pressure on that spoiler panel and it will break. Alex Moose
@CinnamonEdge The guy at the bikeshop told me that the glass roller pin were my only option for the edge. The top straps enter where the trunk opens and slides down inside my car. I have a Vista roof so I think he assumed that would be an issue for mounting it on the top. Alex Moose
Here's a pic. These "glass rollers" are pressed against the frame of the trunk. http://imgur.com/PkLnqXt
CinnamonEdge
That looks good to me. just worries me that he straps go over the rear wing.
Alex Moose
Thanks for the response again. Yeah it is somewhat worrying. I'm only going to use the bike rack only when I'm gonna use the bikes. Currently it's off because it's a rainy week in Michigan and no driving to the beaches for the trails. Luckily the maim trail I bike on is only a 1 mile ride from home so I should only be using the rack maybe once or twice at the most a week.
