hilokamper
2011 EDGE Limited Hazard lights start blinking by themselves car not running, can not turn them off. Have to pull the Negative Terminal & leave disconnected for 15 minutes. This Model hyas the "Capitive Touch" sensor for the Harzard Lights switch. I took it to dealer, they want $ 660.00 dollars to replace the "FCIM" Front Controls Interface Module. Part # BT4Z18842CA I was doubtful this was it. But have been looking more into it. Couple of Questions: 1) anyway of disabling just the Hazard Lights (no fuses or Relays I can find) 2) If I purchase the FCIM myself & Install does it need to be "Flashed" (similar to a PCM/ECU) 3) Can a FCIM from a 2013 (With old fashion push buttom) be installed without Modifications ? 4) Good On-Line Location to Purchase this part (Trying to save a few $$) 5) Is this part of the 5 year Ford extended warranty they have on the "My Touch" It seems to be HEAT related as it only starts flashing after tha car has been sitting most of the day in the sun & the outside Temperature is approaching the Mid 90's Car only has 26,000 Miles but is out of the 36/36 Warranty by 6 months. Picture of the FCIM attached "18842" appears no way of removing the FCIM from the bezel to geet to the Capitive touch sensor to unplug sensor. enigma-2
This may not be related, but I've noticed that my hazards will turn on automatically if I take too long entering a destination. Seems they are connected to the nav unit.

It is only a button part of the complete panel, wouldn't expect them to change the panel connections. 4) Ebay? try searching for a used one? 5) I don't think it would need programming, because it is only a panel with capacitive buttons. Also, since it is a capacitive button, did you try cleaning the button? maybe there is some residue on it that is causing it to activate when heated up? I have also 2 listings on E-bay for a used panel, but they are missing the bezel with the actual hazard switch, so it is detachable for sure: http://www.ebay.com/itm/191569664793 http://www.ebay.com/itm/361315935867

omar302
An updated, I found a post on an Explorer forum with similar center stack where a member stated that dealer replaced it with a new with a hard button for the Hazards instead of capacitive. http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3436512&postcount=7
hilokamper
An updated, I found a post on an Explorer forum with similar center stack where a member stated that dealer replaced it with a new with a hard button for the Hazards instead of capacitive. http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3436512&postcount=7 Thats exactly what the dealer ended up replacing (Upgraded FCIM). Total cost was just under $ 700.00 (Taxes etc.) I researched it the best I could (not a lot on the net regarding the actual part #'s or R&R & testing for a DIY. I did pull the old one out before returning back to the dealer for them to do it to try & get more Part Numbers. It's not hard to remove took me maybe 30 minutes with Extra care. Once out I removes the plastic back cover of the PCB board. all the commponents are on a Soingle Board (Radio, Air Cond., CD, Hazard Flasher. I was hoping there was a seperate Board/Wire for the Hazard, I was going to Clip it in hopes it would stop the flashers from going off since the Flashers are triggered by a ground signal from the Switch to the BCM/SJB. Ford no longer has available the Touch sensor panel, they have replace with the type that has old school actual push button (wish I'm more than happy with). The Dealer said they had problems uploading the Program information from the Ford Service site to My BCM/SJB to program for the new Style FCIM. Said they spent 2-1/2 Hours but only charge me 1-1/2 hours. Not Happy with shelling out $ 700.00 for a Crappy design to begin with that I feel had a flaw in it. Vahicle only has 26,000 Miles & 40 months since being in service. Biggest frustration(s)........ 1) Lack of Information regarding the FCIM 2) Fordparts.com parts finder for the Actual Part Numbers.

crazymadman
Here another question I been looking at the 2013-14 models and they have the old school button that I have seen online threw pictures. Would one of these fix some of our problem and would there be any issue we may encounter ? Just a thought

crazymadman
jhsimpich. I just brought a used replacement panel that replaces the Captive type button with an Old school button from Ebay. Put this in the Search window FORD EDGE RADIO CONTROL PANEL. All the part number are all the same BT4T-18A302-B that is inprinted on the back of the panel. My came out of a Late 2012 but you can look for a 2013-14 one too.
DougB59
I'm having the same problem with our 2011 Edge Limited with the upgraded sound system. The hazard light "button" (that doesn't actually move) and CD eject have always been frustrating (hard to get to work when you want them to, but sometimes coming on when you don't). Recently, the hazard lights started coming on completely by themselves. One evening, various of my neighbors came to my door three times to tell me that my hazard lights were on while the car was sitting in my driveway. I would go out, unlock the car, mess with the button, start the car, etc. until I was finally able to get the hazard lights off. Then I would lock it up and go back in the house. An hour or so later, someone else would come by and tell me they were on again (with the car locked, and no one in it). The next day, the battery was dead (probably from the hazards being on during the night). I've looked on-line at Ford parts dealers and ebay, but am having a hard time finding the part I need using the part numbers and descriptions mentioned in previous posts. I would like to take one out of a salvaged Edge Limited and replace it myself (with the new one that has real, moving buttons), but it isn't clear to me if I can just do this and have it work, or if some sort of software update will be needed even if I replace the physical part myself . I'm trying to avoid taking it to the dealer if I can do it myself. Has anyone done this themselves? Can you offer any more advice? Thanks Doug

Simply replace your panel no trip to the dealer and no software upgrades to deal with.
DougB59
CrazyMadMan, Thank you very much for the information. When I read your reply, I started on a quest to find a used panel from a 2012, 13, or 14 Edge Limited. I didn't have any luck finding one that looked like my panel. I can't open the first two images (I assume that's what they are) in your post. The ebay link opens to one that looks quite different from mine. Mine has only one central round knob (not two), and the other controls also look different. I'm wondering if it is because my Edge has the upgraded Sony stereo (?). Or maybe the later years (ours is a 2011) changed the layout, but still work with the 2011 model? I found a broken panel from a 2012 Edge Sport that looked like mine (I've been to a bunch of auto dismantlers looking for a wrecked 12, 13, or 14 Edge to get this part). Did the replacement you got on ebay look similar to your original panel, or did your original one also only have one central knob like ours? Do you have the Sony upgraded stereo (I don't remember if this is standard on the Limited, or if it was optional)? Thanks again for your help - this is turning out to be a lot more complicated than I expected. Doug

You'll have to find one that looks similar to yours. Here is one with the Sony system on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/GENUINE-FORD-EDGE-OEM-RADIO-PANEL-ASSEMBLY-BT4T-18A802-CE-BB5T-18A802-C-/131588825869?hash=item1ea34e230d&vxp=mtr
crazymadman
Sorrry DougB59 that my photo did not post. I have the panel that has the 2 knobs or the Ford with Mytouch Sync opinion. I don't know much about how the Sony system pane looks like or the other one that is available. Good luck in your quest
pedro2u
Digging up this old thread for some help. My 2011 Edge Limited has just started doing this whenever it wants. I've found that I can get the hazards to turn off if I push the captouch button numerous times. But 5 minutes later it starts up again. The Ford sites show this part as BT4Z18842EA as discontinued and doesn't list a replacement. Following this thread, I've started looking for a 2013-14's on eBay that clearly have an actual button and that look the same as mine but with different part numbers. Any one know which of this will work? -CB? -CD? -CL? crazymadman
pedro2u as long as your Edge has the Sony system which has the subwoofer it will work if not then no and you will have to find one similar to your current one and it a direct replacement. Did it to my personal one a few years ago and had to problem changing it over and my 4 way no longer come on until I push the button now.
