USAFEOD
Hey guys, I have a question, I have a 2007 Edge AWD that the cooling fan and relay went out. I was thinking of upgrading to the larger towing fan with its specific relay because we do have a hitch installed and do some light towing (although not as much now that we have an F150 again) and we do live in Las Vegas, and its June with 112 deg temps. The cost isn't that much different, maybe $30 so I figure why not. Is it as easy as swapping out the old relay and putting in the tow one along with the new fans, or is there more wiring i need to do. Thanks guys
autom8r
USAFEOD: There are two flavors of radiator cooling fan controllers, towing and non-towing. This post discusses the attributes of each, you'll find your answers in the thread. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/12731-radiator-fan-assembly-replacement-procedure/ The modules are mildly different. The tow module has two 40A fuses and the non-tow has a single 60A fuse. The fan controller output wiring differs slightly, but the inputs to the fan controller seem the same down to their placement on the connectors and the color of the wire. Here is a wiring diagram for your use, it's from 2008 but it should be the same. The only concern would be to double up on the fuses, this way you blow both 40s, right? Good luck.
