Ed Amantia
I have had my new Ford Edge for a few months. Today for the first time my key fob didn't work when my car was in front of my home. figured it was in need of a battery. But then my cousin pulls up in his new Ford F150 and his key fob doesn't work either. We drive our vehicles a few blocks away and both key fobs work fine. We come back to my home and again they will not work in front of my house. I did some searching and it sounds like interference but I've never had this problem before and have no clue as to what to do about it. Any advice? WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Any new electronics installed in your home or nearby lately? Including antennas, cell towers, smart meters, etc.
enigma-2
Key FOBS usually transmit on 315 mHz or 434 mHz. It could be something in your home or even nearby home. One trick is to hold the key FOB near the receiving antenna (usually located near the radio antenna). May be able to override the interference. Whatever it is, is broadcasting on a continuous basis on one of those frequencies. Look for a home wireless weather station for starters. Ed Amantia
Nothing new installed in my home but I do have a firehouse literally across the street wonder if they are up to something? This morning the keys work again. If it happens again I guess I'm going to have to knock on doors and ask questions. Thanks.
ExNascarDood
Another "old school" trick is to hold the fob against your chin while activating it as that helps the range. That said, that's only a band-aid for what the real problem is.
