macbwt
A 2012 Lincoln MKX 3.7 duratec 100,000 mile spark plug change. Not really any different than the 3.5.
macbwt
Nothing to report and nothing to repair. Two 2011 Ford Edge's with combined mileage of 277,000 miles. Just regular maintenance.

macbwt
Changing the transmission torque mount on a Lincoln MKX which is pretty similar for the Ford Edge both 1st gens.
macbwt
An oil change and installation of a Fumoto valve to make future oil changes tooless. Gotta like simple things. No more tools needed to change the oil.
macbwt
Do not waste your money. Just change the brake fluid every two years or so.
macbwt
Not sure what to say. Nearing 200,000 miles and my Edge is running great. Got to change the plugs and coils soon, but I was just under it today and everything is bone dry. No leaks and it is running great. The 1.5 refresh really has some great little improvements over the 1st Gen. Still like the 1st Gen, but reliability is definitely much better. Well maybe I also am hitting the maintenance a bit hard on this one also. Extremely happy at this point.

macbwt
apparently you can change the spark plugs, install new throttle body gaskets, intake gaskets, clean the throttle body and intake manifold, and install a new pcv along with new coils in 51 minutes.
macbwt
I had some coolant left over from another job and it was enough to change out the coolant for a quick drain and fill on my Edge so 15 minutes later a quick drain and fill with some refreshed coolant for the Edge.
macbwt
I have always known the funnel was in the back, but it seems a lot of folks did not. Well it is a secret no more.
akirby
I have always known the funnel was in the back, but it seems a lot of folks did not. Well it is a secret no more. Why wouldn't Ford put that kind of information in some easy to use booklet kept handy in the glove compartment and also available in online searchable PDFs?

fishx65
Mac, just watched your video about assembling the PCV valve and tube for your 2011. Did you happen to try heat to separate the original tube and PCV so you could reuse the tube?????

macbwt
My 2011 Ford Edge limited is now less than 5K mile from 200K miles. I am assuming I will reach this milestone on my 2nd Edge about July 2017. I will then move all of my actions into the other thread "what to expect at 200,000 plus miles" to continue the high mileage thread and how does it do with mileage. there is one difference with this Edge. I am in it for the long haul. Let's see what a Duratec and 6F50 trans can do.

macbwt
What does the MAF sensor do? More than you think. A lot of engine management and transmission management centers around MAF sensor data.

lildisco
Get yourself some fluid film. Should prevent it from spreading more http://www.fluid-film.com/automotive-applications/ I've been using it for years to prevent rust. The stuff works wonders. My work vehicles gets sprayed once a year & there's very little signs of rust, most likely developed prior to applying Fluid Film. Every time i work on any of our vehicles, i apply fluid film. Kinda like preventative maintenance. Here's a video that i really like that shows exactly what fluid film can do:
fishx65
Mac, my 2011's front suspension is starting to knock a little while going over bumps. I already did the swaybar links. What usually goes first up front??? Just hit 90 Grand.
