omar302
Make sure you get the SoundScreen window. Base & SEL have a regular window while Limited & Sport got the dual panel version for sound isolation.

macbwt
Did some research on the transmission fluids and related some basic information without diving too deep into the weeds. Result just change the transmission fluid it is cheaper than a new transmission.

macbwt
I decided to install a bug deflector on my 2011 Ford Edge. All I can say is buyer be ware. AVS shield is good but they seriously dropped the ball with the anchors and fasteners. Edited June 25, 2016 by macbwt

macbwt
Never judge a book by it's cover. Outside of the rotor looked excellent. The inside was a completely different story.
macbwt
This video shows how the fuel management system cuts off fuel or rather leans it way out to save fuel and increase gas mileage. Very interesting to watch as the 3.5 duratec performs.

macbwt
Keeping the engine cool. I changed the thermostat and the fluid (coolant) was vacuumed out and refilled. Running cooler now and was worth the effort. Most likely the coolant was OEM (5 years old) The thermostat however showed immediate results in the temp of the engine so I am in the belief the thermostat was acting up.
macbwt
Beginning to believe I chose the correct name for my Edge (Lullubelle) anyway cantankerous as she has been I have a new issue of a Transmission Fluid thermal bypass valve failure. I have searched for this and find very little information on the subject. Seems there is some documented issues involving failures. No Youtube repairs can really be found unless I am not looking in the correct locations. Essentially this is the issue. Transmission temps are running high to the point of approximately 210 degrees F. This temperature does not occur immediately but over a long drive cycle. (150 miles or more) I checked my wifes 2011 Edge and it ran 100 miles and kept the temp exactly at 187-188 degrees the whole trip. Never wavering. What does this valve do? It closes the system of the transmission fluid and re-diverts it back to the transmission until it reaches a temperature range warm enough for the fluid to be cooled. I am assuming this is somewhere around 180 degrees or less. I have not found any information on the temperature range yet that it opens. My assessment is the AC condenser is working properly and the AC is working correctly and no leaks of transmission fluid or refrigerant are visible. AC is running 50 degrees at vent. The condenser is good so the next summation is the Transmission Fluid Thermal Bypass Valve is not operating correctly. It has possibly not opened fully or completely. I believe it has been allow a very small amount of transmission fluid to seep into the condenser to allow cooling since it takes many miles for the temperature to build up heat to the range of 205-210 degrees over long drives. The fluid was changed and only had 27K miles on it, but felt this was a good starting point to rule out degraded fluid even though I felt it was still good I decided on this process of elimination. The valve is about 45 dollars from ford dealer so I will be ordering a new one to replace it. I have not exacting verification and no tools to establish this part has failed so it will be SWAG and parts swapping maneuver. The edge has 150K miles on it and the transmission has had now 3 complete fluid removals and refills off about 14 quarts each transfer using a transmission fluid machine. How did I figure out there is a problem? I use an OBDII blue tooth scanner and the FORScan Lite app to monitor all functions. This is how I am diagnosing the temps. I have no reason to deem this device not working and the PCM is also working correctly. I verified this same reading using the same device and software on another 2011 Ford Edge I own (Blueberry) I will hit the road today for a test run with new fluid, but have doubts that this will fix the issue with new fluid. We will see as if it goes up I will call and purchase the valve.
