Navigation update 16777215

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I just purchased a used 2013 Ford Edge Limited.

The week after my purchase, I did the MFT update and I am now up to date.

I the switched my A3 Navigation card to a A6. Nothing super, just new map.

Now everything is really up to date.

There's just one message left and it's this one :

NAVIGATION/ 16777215

Picture attached (Sorry it's in French)837860FullSizeRender1.jpg

It says ready to update, but when I try, its says that the update has failed. The exact message is ''File not found''.

Went to the dealer with this and he didn't seem to know anything about this message.

Anyone else has this ? Everything works perfectly fine, I just like to have my thing up to date all the time.

Thanks !

Hi Julien Gauthier,

Unfortunately, I don't see a picture attached (it may just be my PC). Where are you getting the file not found message? It sounds like you may be trying to update the navigation portion of MyFord Touch, which gets updated when you perform the SYNC updates. If that's not it, let me know and we'll go from there. :)

  • 4 weeks later...

Hi Rebecca,

My 2011 Ford Edge was working fine. I did not get the map update - I didn't see a reason to if it was only to update maps. I was told when I purchased the Edge, that I would not have to purchase updates, similar to TomTom. However this week, my navigation screen has come up with a notice that it is not working properly and that I need to take it to a dealer. The car also thinks it is in Michigan and won't let me re-set it, even when I input new destinations. My dealership charged me $240+ to disconnect/drain the battery and re-set it, they also put the latest maps in it. My extended warranty apparently doesn't cover this, even though it was sold to me as covering all the electronics. I am not happy, and I was considering buying a new Ford Expedition, but not if this type of thing is the case and things aren't covered. What gives - as I see from other forums, that this was a fix your company devised...

Thanks.

Toni

None of this makes any sense.

1. Your salesman was incorrect, you do have to purchase map updates for all Ford products and have had to since the first navigation units came out. (Ford did provide new map cards when they were doing all the early MFT updates, but that was only because the old cards wouldn't work with the new software, not because they had updated maps)

2. If the car thinks it's in Michigan, it's likely a fault of the GPSM module - the part that receives and interprets the GPS signals. If would have nothing to do with the navigation software or maps.

3. If the dealer "put the latest maps in it", then did they actually sell you a new card? What does your card say now (A6)? That card would cost $150, which means they charged you $100 for the reset, which would be a normal diagnostic charge. Did you authorize them to sell you a map card? If the map card itself went bad, it would never show you were in Michigan.

4. Is your extended warranty a genuine Ford ESP or is it something else that the dealer sold you? If it's not a Ford warranty, then it's not up to Ford to determine what's covered. If it is a genuine Ford warranty, then it's probably you're dealer that's not applying it correctly.

5. What "fix" did Ford devise exactly?

Hey Battiste2,

Waldo is on the right track. Is your system working now, or does it still show that you're in Michigan? Also, can you please look at the SD card and provide the version (A4, A5, A6)?

Let me know and I'll assist.
