infektid
Hi, I (of course) was lucky enough to have the DOOR AJAR issue in my 2013 Ford Edge SE V6 AWD with Convenience Package. My question is ... can anyone out there tell me what wires in the door go to the open and close on the sensor so I can hook up another method (magnetic switch) that will work? OR if you know where to get a Wiring Diagram? Thanks In Advance!
enigma-2
I'll attach a schematic of the door lock mech. for a 2010 Edge, don't know if they are the same or not (don't have the schematic for the 2013). Before going through all the work of replacing the mechanism, why not try spraying the switch with electrical contact cleaner? Hunter24 measured the resistance across the corroded switch terminals and found that his switch was varying between 3 and 10 ohms. He discovered that the light would go off around 3 ohms. So he tried using electrical contact cleaner and reported that it was still working after several weeks (this was a year ago). He states you only need to remove one screw to access the switch with the spray. (WD40 does not work on the Edge/MKX problem. Makes it worse). (Post #24 in the reference shown below). 2011edgese found you don't have to remove any screws, just aim the spray straw at an exact spot. He uploaded pictures in message #30 and 40. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/10869-door-ajar-warning-on-at-all-times/page-2?do=findComment&comment=97238 Door Lock Mech.pdf Edited May 7, 2015 by enigma-2
ClosetotheEdge
They say that the best electrical; contact cleaner spray is called DeOxit. I just purchased a can. Check out reviews on Amazon. Guys that work on their antique stereo equipment use it a lot.

WWWPerfA_ZN0W
That would be good. Hopefully folks have kept their receipts.

jimbullitt
So...interestingly enough the 2013 Edge latch mechanism(and white, hanging "switch" for the sensor)are identical to the mechanism in the video, for the 2013 Explorer. I'm still reluctant to start "shaving" parts, like the video poster did. I did out in the driveway, and closed the latch mechanism, by pushing the little "cam" to the fully locked position, and pushed the white hanging switch contact, like the video indicated. I just wanted to educate myself, and get ready to purchase the electrical contact cleane(NOT WD-40)..I also contacted my favorite Ford Tech. to ask about TSBs on this issue and or/possible safety recalls, as a different member posted.
