2012 Edge coolant loss, anyone similar?

2012 Taurus V6 3.5L with 51K miles, the coolant level in the reservoir is below the "cold" about 1 inch.

the level was normal when doing the oil change 6 months ago. so it is likely leaking in last 6 months. The car hood has no coolant smell, no outside leaking found. Dealer did a pressure check and found nothing.

Try to get it fixed before 60k warranty over if anything wrong such as water pump and head internal leaking.

anyone noticed similar thing? should I be worried? appreciate your feedback,

Peter

Most likely a water pump issue, IMHO, if there are no signs of engine/transmission oil in the coolant or vice versa. Could be a slow leak from the radiator/lines attached to radiator. Could be block porosity also (happens occasionally). An example of this on a Saab:

1" over 6 months isn't horrible, but definitely worth watching. Fill it back up to COLD FULL and keep an eye on it for a short while. Document frequently. A dye test could also be done, since the pressure test did not reveal anything.

My 2011 (50,000 miles) has been that low for a long time. I just had them top it off a few weeks ago so I'll keep an eye on it. I have not seen or smelled any leaks which could be good or really really really bad.

really really really bad = internal head gasket leak
