Cellbine
Recently I have noticed that there is a lag when I press the accelerator or a thump when I let off the gas and apply it again. I have felt this before when I was in Germany and found that the sway control was still on after I towed something. I turned the sway control off, then and now, and it solved the problem. Now I have noticed that every time I start the car up, sway control is enabled. So I have to go in and turn it off every time I drive. We were on the highway the other weekend and I could feel the car slightly drifting left to right. It was very slight, but enough for me to notice. I thought it was the road but I didn't have to correct my steering to adjust for the sway. That is when I found that sway control was on. I turned it off and it seemed to stop. Could be all in my head though...... I have searched and searched for another towing setting but can't find anything to turn off. It seems like the Edge thinks I am always towing something. This is the setting I am talking about: Not sure if it matters, but menu control memory is enabled. I don't really think it applies for these settings though. Can anyone out there save my sanity?? omar302
It always defaults to on when starting the vehicle. Your not supposed to feel a difference when your not towing.
Cellbine
Does no one else feel a difference at times when they let off the gas and then accelerate? Or when they reverse and then go into drive? I hope that there is a way to not have it always be enabled by default. It is driving me nuts. WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Since I have no idea how this is accomplished on the Edge, my shot in the dark would be that the electronics are thinking the trailer is still attached. So I'd check the hitch connections carefully, and the wiring as much as you can (including for shorts/high resistance, etc.). The other item is possible reception of an automatic MFT update. Any other changes noticed? EDIT: As omar pointed out, it is a default setting, apparently one in reponse to govt requirements, per this post: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2738099&postcount=11 http://www.nhtsa.gov/DOT/NHTSA/Rulemaking/Rules/Associated%20Files/ESC_FR_03_2007.pdf Federal Vehicle Safety Standards ESC_FR_03_2007.pdf Edited April 11, 2015 by WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Cellbine
Sigh, I'm sure it is like that for people that forget to enable it and start towing. I don't know why I am so sensitive to it, but Ill have to live with it.

omar302
@Cellbine, I will definitely try to start driving with the sway control off to test if I can feel any difference. Sway control is an option that comes with the towing package, so I'd think there would be a way to permanently disable it with a dealer.

I have the towing package, not sure if that was obvious or not lol. But I felt the swaying on this one highway over here. I could have been the road for sure. However, the clunk that I get sometimes from letting off the gas and then back on is hard to deal with. Makes me think there is something wrong with the car. I am sure it is how it is supposed to operate when you are towing something so that it eases into the pull. I drove to Seoul and back today with it still enabled and it did fine. If I force myself to not worry about it and drive with it on, I bet I will forget about it.
normcloutier
I'll try turning mine off every time I drive for the next week and see if I can notice any difference.
Waldo
That doesn't make any sense. Sway control is part of the stability control system, if shouldn't have anything to do with clunks when lifting off the gas.
Cellbine
Then maybe it is something else, but when I turn it off I do not have that response.
