Do I need an additional battery for my subs?

Recommended Posts

Is that 2400W total, or 1200W total? Is the sub self-powered? What is the amp being used for? How much current total do you expect to pull at a time on a regular basis?

Depending on your configuration, you may be a) fine with stock, b] need an alternator upgrade, and/or c) need a battery upgrade. Run the highest gauge power wiring you can afford to minimize loss.

It's a Rockford Fosgate R1200-1D amp. RMS is 1200, 2400 max, but I won't be pushing it anywhere near max. The people I've asked at shops and the dealership think it'll be fine. As long as I don't see headlights and instrument panel dimming when the bass hits, I should be okay according to my friend's dad who installs systems for a living.
