rodgersden06
We have only had our 2010 edge for two weeks. I really do like the car but we live in the country there are a lot of big hills. It seems to struggle going up the hills. Even on a straight a way it doesn't have much power. I was not sure if this is normal for the ford edge being I am used to driving my V8. I didn't really expect this much difference seeing how it does have a tow package. Right from a stop sign or red light it is slow to get to 35. Anybody else have this issue or am I expecting to much from my V6. I mean very powerless. Thanks for your help.
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Welcome to the forum. AWD/FWD? We need to know about the maintenance history on your Edge, as well as how many miles it has on it now. A lot of major services come due at 100,000 miles or thereabouts, for example. Any flashing lights to indicate any problems? Have you had codes pulled at a local auto parts store? Checked all fluid levels and fluid condition?
rodgersden06
Hello, and thank you. It is AWD and at 89,000 miles. The dealership could only verify what they did and said it had its last maintenance at 60,000 I believe. There are no dash lights on. Maybe I should test drive another one to compare. I will bring it to our mechanic shop for a good going over however I'm pretty sure it should have a little more power. Almost feels like the engine is struggling to move the car. akirby
Have you changed the engine air filter? That's the most obvious thing.
ClosetotheEdge
Wouldn't doubt that the fuel injectors are a little dirty. The plugs are probably very worn as well. Sluggishness could indicate a fuel restriciton or a weak fuel pump as well.
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Air filter for sure. Oil filter & oil change. Run a bottle of Techron Fuel Injector cleaner through the gas tank, as injectors may be clogged. Spark plugs may be worn, depending on how those 89,000 miles were reached (all highway, stopngo, highway/city, etc.). PCV valve should be changed same time as plugs. A clogged PCV valve can cause all sorts of problems. Being AWD, the PTU is always suspect, may need fluid flush/refill. but that's further down the list. Basic maintenance first.
