Jmsbond007
Ok, I have a 2011 edge sport. My climate controls are always set to these settings and don't change. Fan speed on one, temp sent on 70, vents set to floor and dash (see picture). Same settings in the morning, it will be 30 deg outside and I get good hot air out the vents. Same settings, same day, I leave work with outside temp at 40ish and it will blow cold air on like its A/C. Doesn't matter if I use remote start or not. Coolent is good. I have to bump the temp to 80 to get good warm air. Is this normal?
pjazzz
I usually use the auto setting. The temp can be inconsistent. so I like it when the fan only comes on when the temp goes down instead of blowing constant hot and sometimes cold air. I do notice it is hard to get constant hot air. Waldo
You're constraining the system by imposing so many settings so it's not really able to work effectively. The system uses sunload and temperature sensors so it's likely seeing high sunload after work and trying to compensate. The setting of 70 is actually on the "cool" side, 72 is what is programmed as the "normal". So with your setting below normal and high sunload and the inability to change mode or fan speed, it's doing everything it can to try to cool down the cabin. I just set mine to Auto and leave it. akirby
My daughter refuses to use auto. It drives me nuts. Unless you want air blowing all the time just put it on auto and adjust the temp as needed. If it's hot when the car is first started and I don't want it blowing that strong I just turn up the temp to 78 or so, then turn it back down. Mostly I just leave it around 72. My 2013 Fusion does act flaky and differently than any other Ford auto climate control I've had previously. I know this one has multiple sensors but when I first start the car it tends to blow cold air from the dash vents immediately even when it's colder than 72. If I raise it to 73 it switches to hot air. There is no in between. I'm going to have it checked - I think a sensor may be bad.
factor99
My Edge is similar to Akirby's Fusion. It will blow with the A/C when I would think it is too cool already, but only around at 68F or so. I asked about it at the dealer and they said "everything" checked out normal. It may be that the car is a bit warmer than the outside temp because of the sun.
akirby
It may be that the car is a bit warmer than the outside temp because of the sun. Except mine also does it on rainy cloudy 58 degree days. That's why I think it's a sensor problem.
