Dean Caudle
I have had my 2013 Edge SEL for 24 months now and have put 46,000 miles on it as my daily commute is roughly 65 miles round trip but they are nice highway miles. Just wondering about some on here that have high miles on their Edge's and how they have aged? I have the Eco-Boost engine in my SEL. I really like it. XB70
You aren't letting the grass grow under that machine!! I don't have a lot of miles on mine yet but there are some other members with big numbers on the odometer. You must be getting close to a set of new tires. Glad to hear you like the Eco-Boost motor. It wasn't available with AWD at the time I bought mine. That's been corrected for the 2015 model. Is the fuel economy within the range you expected? Dean Caudle
I have 4/32 on the front and 3/32 on the back so will be getting new tires before the winter season hits. Debating whether to put another set of Pirelli Scorpion STR's they came with (245/50/20) or I have been looking at Yokohama Avid Envigor. Tire place near me has a forever tire program where you buy a set of tires and never have to again as long as you own the car. The way I go through miles I am considering it but you have to go with their highest priced tire (The Yokohama). I would say I am a bit dissapointed with the fuel economy. If you drive 60 on the interstate you CAN average 30 MPG but that's just not me Overall its gets about 24 MPG per tank.
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
24 mpg is not too bad or a FWD with mostly highway miles, but by now probably you could do better with the EB engine, even at 70 mph. Scheduled maintenance on time? Tire pressure regularly checked? Cold weather can reduce air pressure significantly. One of the things on turbo motors is they like to eat plugs. So even if they tell you 50K or 100K life, if you want optimum performance: a) Check plugs at least by 25-30K, and gap them properly. Even from the factory, the gaps are known not to be set properly. If gap growth from new is over 0.010, you are losing performance. If you see carbon deposits, the vehicle is running rich OR too much oil in the PCV fumes making it into the combustion chamber OR you have a leaky fuel injector. thirdgenlxi
Nice.... racking them up pretty good!! Hopefully it keeps treating you well My '07 is a couple hundred miles away from turning 140,000 miles. I bought it in Nov 2012 with 97k. So I've only put about 43k on it since then. But it's also not my daily driver... I have my bike and another car as well. Between the 3 I think it was somewhere around 40k a year. Haven't had a lick of trouble out of the Edge in the time I've had it though.... still runs and drives like a top
macbwt
No Ecoboost but the 3.5 duratec is a pretty tough engine. At 274,000 miles on my 2008 Orange Crush.

ClosetotheEdge
Hey macbwt! Did you put on 275K miles on the same water pump? (the nasty one driven off the timing chain) A lot of miles. Mostly highway miles right?...In any case, you definitely got your moneys' worth! :-)
macbwt
Every thing is original except for the wear items like , plugs, belts. Same air filter K&N, replaced one O2 sensor and a power steering hose. Hey macbwt! Did you put on 275K miles on the same water pump? (the nasty one driven off the timing chain) A lot of miles. ClosetotheEdge
First thing I ordered for the Edge was a K+N air filter. Really impressive the amount of time and miles you put on your truck so far. I hope the water pump lasts in ours. We bought it about a month ago with 42K miles. macbwt
I am sure you will be fine. My wifes Edge is a 2011 and it has 89K on it. No isssues so far. Ford by the way is not the only company that puts a water pump inside the engine like this. I had a Suzuki that had the water pump fail and the Mechs had to disassemble the engine to get to it. That must have netted you a huge increase in fuel economy!

macbwt
Akirby when I installed the K&N filter and the fishing line with the tin foil strips inside the air intake tubing I bet I gained at least 20 percent of one eigth of one mile in fuel saving and at least 6 percent of 100th of .5 hp, but hey I am happy with it and only bought one filter and on recharge kit number two. Just to make you feel better I am going to install that dry filter you like so much. You have a K&N filter? That must have netted you a huge increase in fuel economy! ClosetotheEdge
My Grand Prix came from SLP that was sent from the factory for the GTX conversion. The GTX has a functional cold air intake molded into the hood with scoops. Air goes to an airbox with a cone style K+N filter. I have never had an issue with the K+N, other than a backfire when I hit a 150HP nitrous shot and ignited the K+N...soooo...this is my second K+N in 15 years..cheers
PrinzII
I just test drove a 2008 SEL with 111,639 on the clock for a friend who is Edge shopping. The following things were wrong with it.... 1) Brake pedal had a very mushy feel to it. Probably needed to do the brake fluid service. 2) I did hear some wheel bearing noise, especially after application of the brakes 3) Transmission slippage from 3-4 4) Scratch on rear door
macbwt
By your description sounds like lack of maintence. Most can be fixed pretty cheaply, but the transmission would require a little more thought.
99ebpsi24
I bought my 14 Edge Sport on 1/2/15 with 2 miles on it and have just over 1,600 on it now. I'm fortunate to live less than 2 miles from my office so miles don't rack up quickly.

beston38st
My 2008 has nothing compared to macbwt but 150,000 trouble free miles driving in the NY metro area is nothing to be ashamed of. As the saying goes take care of the car (regular maintenance) and it will take care of you.
