factor99
I need to touch up a few stone chips on my platinum white Edge. I have heard the OEM touch-up for this colour is poor so I was going to order some from Dr. ColorChip. I see now though a two part OEM paint with a basecoat and topcoat. http://www.amazon.com/Ford-Motorcraft-Platinum-Basecoat-Topcoat/dp/B00BR05EEY/ref=sr_1_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1426453042&sr=1-1&keywords=ford+platinum+white+touch+up+paint It has limited reviews but all the relevant ones are good. I thought the OEM that has poor results was a one step. Is it actually this 2 step or are they different products? Has anyone here used it successfully? akirby
I touched up a fairly large section of the rear hatch (about 4-8 sq in) using paintscratch.com aerosol (white platinum). They also have pens and other options with all 3 coats (base, mid and clear). Always had good results with their products.
factor99
Thanks akirby. Both paintscratch and Dr. ColorChip look good, but since I am in Canada on only have some small chips I have just ordered the 2-part OEM touchup paint for ~Can$23 and I will see for myself how it is. I will post the results (it might be a while; I might not get it for a week and then I have to find the time use it carefully)
enigma-2
I bought the UG OEM (Motorcraft) touch up. Comes in 2, 1/2 ml bottles. 9U2J-19500-LA BASE COAT, 9U2J-19500-MA TOP COAT Bottles contain both brush and roller. (Roller should be better for pin-pointing scratches). Only used it one on a small chip; worked OK, looks very close to original. After it dried, I rubbed with rubbing compound and hardly noticeable. Instructions are wrapped around the bottles. factor99
Thanks enigma, that looks like one I am getting, I'm glad it looks OK, that will be better than the grey primer spot on the front of my hood... I know it will take more than just dapping it on.
