ls973800
I thought the 3.5 V-6 was not going to be carried over to 2016? I haven't been keeping up with all of the posts about it though.

cv27
Why not? What would have replaced it? 2.7L EB on all trims? Edited March 14, 2015 by cv27
akirby
2.7L EB on all trims? That's a huge upgrade, not a replacement. The 2.3L would be most logical but some people don't want ecoboost, the 3.5L is probably cheaper and has a larger supply.
goatee
I know I would rather have a normally aspirated engine for longevity and probably my peace of mind. I drive 20K miles a year. I am assuming the EB engines are fine with 87 octane and will deliver full MPG and HP numbers. I cant imagine how much it costs to replace any parts of the EB system? akirby
I don't know. I haven't heard of anyone having to replace anything.
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
On the Edge 2.0L EB, the fuel pump was/is one of the main issues. I am sure there are other issues, but rare to hear of any on this forum (yet). Now if we expand the scope of the question to the 3.5L EB in transverse applications (SHO, Flex, Explorer Sport), we find very infrequent (but not rare) cases of leakage from turbo seals, turbo oil lines, fuel injectors, and valve covers. ls973800
Like I mentioned, I thought the V-6 was going away for 2016 and being replaced with only the 4 cylinder engine. I haven't followed the entire discussion about the new model so I'm not really up on all of the changes. Oh well, I have been wrong before, nothing new.
