Lex Talionis
SO, I have either read/heard conflicting info on these items or cannot find the actual answer.. 1. Does the 2008 have puddle lights below the doors like the Subaru Tribeca? 2. Does the 'universal' remote control garage door opener on the visor work on newer model (last 5 year) garage door openers that recycle their codes each usage? 3. can you disable the power lift gate and make it manual if you want/need? 4. do the interior lights slowly fade down over a few seconds after you close the doors or just shut right off like a light switch? 5. On the DVD nav system, how often is the DVD updated, do they send you newer ones or do you have to buy newer ones AND do you get the most current version when you buy the Edge or one from last year or whatever they have sitting around? thanks! GMan's_2008_Edge
1. Does the 2008 have puddle lights below the doors like the Subaru Tribeca? No, the puddle lights are mounted in the bottoms of the side view mirrors. 2. Does the 'universal' remote control garage door opener on the visor work on newer model (last 5 year) garage door openers that recycle their codes each usage? Mine does. My door lift is a 2007 model from Marantec. 3. Can you disable the power lift gate and make it manual if you want/need? Yes, and that's done by changing the setting in the dash's Info Center menu. 4. Do the interior lights slowly fade down over a few seconds after you close the doors or just shut right off like a light switch? They stay on for a few seconds, and then slowly fade to black. 5. On the DVD nav system, how often is the DVD updated, do they send you newer ones or do you have to buy newer ones AND do you get the most current version when you buy the Edge or one from last year or whatever they have sitting around? Not sure about the NAV DVD updates, depends on how often Ford's GPS vendor creates a new version. Whenever they are available, I'm guessing that a new edition of the NAV disk will likely NOT be free. My 2008 Edge came with a disk that is dated 2007 on the labeling, but not sure if that dates the creation of the data, or just the disk itself. Lex Talionis
thanks! I found out some info on #5.... the current DVD out for that system is labeled 6p - that does not mean you get a 6p, just that it is available. You should see what you have as I would be very curious to know if the 2008 came with the 6p (or some earlier model like 2p, 3p, 4p...). Please look and report back. That being said, they run about 150$ per DVD when new ones come out, but you can find them cheaper on eBay.

It's labeled: FLM Navigation System - North America - Map Release 6P The back of the DVD case has: 2008 Pioneer Corporation / 2006 NAVTEQ / Made in Japan / 8L2T-10E987-AF / Supplier Code EDMEA GMan
Lex Talionis
great for you and great to know. I would think a 2008 'should' come with the latest which is 6p... but hey, we are dealing with car dealers and such, so passing off a 4p or 5p or older in a 2008 I would not put it past them.
