Remote Start, Bumper Cover, Pinstripe and Tint

Recommended Posts

We got some new toys for our Edge for Christmas and today I was able to get them all installed. First off was the remote starter. We looked at the factory offered units, but with a prive tag of close to $400, I knew I could do it cheaper. As a member of F150online.com, I noticed alot of members on there bought a (prewired) remote starters from KCAutosound.com. Travis will sell you everything you need, with the PATS bypass module and (all prewired and ready to install) a complete wiring install guide that takes you step by step to install and program your unit. I received mine prewired and install process in hand and had it installed and programmed in about 45 minutes. We went with the Code Alarm CA-520A that has (2) 4 button remotes and also locks and unlocks the doors as well as will pop the back hatch. I cannot recommend him enough, he made the process totally painless and all for about $200 shipped.

Next was a pinstripe. She has the Carbon Metallic and although its a nice color, it needed something to break it up a little. I went with 3M strip that is double 1/8" metallic silver with a 1/8" seperation. It really made a big difference. Then to make sure the rear bumper was protected, I went with the OEM rear bumper cover. I called the dealership and the guy quoted me $43 plus tax, so I jumped all over that. I really think this was money well spent even thought it SHOULD have come from the factory with one. Lastly, I had the front windows tinted. I wanted to match the rear, but one of my trucks is darker than legal and its such a pain to get an inspection sticker on it. So, I decided that legal was dark enough.

We have had alot of rain here in the last few days, so when it stops I will get her all cleaned up and post some pics.
