rastakowboy
Hello A tire store recommended me a set of Yoko Avid Ascend 235 60 18 for my 2007 Edge SEL with 18" option 245 60 18. Are these 235 60 18 suitable? Will they affect my speed? What are some recommendations for all seasons? Currently running Toyo Versado CUV but they seem to be wearing fast and only 50000km. Michelin Latitude Tour? Continental CrossContact LX20? Bridgestone Duelers? Goodyear Fortera? General Grabbers? ls973800
The chart linked to will show what tire size you can substitute and still be within the recomended 3% difference. The green color indicates a good substitute. However, you will have to make sure there is enough room for the different size tire in the wheel openings. Shouldn't be be a problem, but something to keep in mind. http://ejelta.com/tiresize/index.html?ws20=1&tiresize=245%2F60%2F18&maxdelta=3&minwidth=225&maxwidth=275&minratio=65&maxratio=45&minwheel=18&maxwheel=20 This link will allow you to see the exact differences between the two tires, or any other size you want to check. In your case, you will be doing 61 MPH when your speedometer shows 60 MPH. http://www.tire-size-calculator.info/ Tire Size Calculator _ Comparison of tires and wheels.htm Edited February 17, 2015 by ls973800
fishx65
Discount Tire & Discount Tire Direct sell the Yoko YK580's that get pretty good reviews. These are a DT exclusive and can sometimes be purchased at a really good price. A few of us on here grabbed them for around $250.00 for a set of four shipped!!! macbwt
I use the Bridgestone Dueler Alanza Ecopias. 149.00 each but great traction in all weather and a nice quiet tire. The bonus is the low rolling resistance for as they say better fuel mileage and I get 60 to 70k miles out of them.
enigma-2
TireRack http://www.tirerack.com/tires/SelectTireSize.jsp?autoMake=Ford&autoModel=Edge+SEL&autoYear=2007&autoModClar=AWD&brand=Yokohama didn't recommend that particular tire for your car (either FWD or AWD). They sell it, but wasn't recommended for the 07 Edge SEL AWD or FWD. For Yokohama they spec'd the Geolandar H/T G056 @$131 ea, the Parada Spec-X @ $172 ea and the AVID ENVigor (H- or V-Speed Rated) @ $147 ea. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Yokohama&tireModel=AVID+ENVigor+%28H-+or+V-Speed+Rated%29&partnum=46HR8ENV&vehicleSearch=true&fromCompare1=yes&autoMake=Ford&autoYear=2007&autoModel=Edge%20SEL&autoModClar=FWDThe surveys don't rate this tire very high, scoring low in "would you buy again, light snow, deep snow and ice. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Yokohama&tireModel=AVID+ENVigor+%28H-+or+V-Speed+Rated%29&partnum=46HR8ENV&vehicleSearch=true&fromCompare1=yes&autoMake=Ford&autoYear=2007&autoModel=Edge%20SEL&autoModClar=FWD Click on "surveys" and "reviews" for actual user reporting. A better tire and less money (at least at TireRack) would be the Bridgestone Dueler H/L 422 Ecopia @ $128 ea. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Bridgestone&tireModel=Dueler+H%2FL+422+Ecopia&partnum=46TR8HL422&vehicleSearch=true&fromCompare1=yes&autoMake=Ford&autoYear=2007&autoModel=Edge%20SEL&autoModClar=FWD This are the tires I'm running on my 09 MKX AWD and find them to be very smooth & quiet, and have good traction on wet roads and in snow. Not so much on ice. For the price, they are a better buy IMO.

Whitewater
I bought the geolander g056 on a leap of faith and gave not been disappointed. They have outperformed the stock Michelins in every way this winter (from Maine). I'll wait to see how they preform when and if summer arrives. Highly recommended.
