Just noticed my current 2011 AWD has a 19.2 g. fuel tank (so did the 2013) while the 2015 AWD on order is 18.5. Lower capacity = redesign? Just ordered my 2015 Titanium AWD, magnetic/cognac, with everything except Driver's package (51D). My sales guy expects it in early June, given the slow start (billing, lot stock, etc.). And how was/is your ownership experience with your '08? Including the just ordered 2015, this will be my 3rd Edge (2011, 2008), all purchased new and serviced from the same dealer. I've been purchasing/leasing new cars over the last 46 years: Chevrolet, Dodge, Pontiac, AMC (Javelin), but never Ford for some unknown reason. When I got around to buying the first Edge, attracted by the technology part, I thought maybe I should have looked at Ford earlier: I was impressed with quality and value. Prior to every Edge purchase, I look again at Infinity, Lexus, BMW, add up the options and consistently come up with "why should I pay more money (+$10-20k) for the same? Paying for status is not part of my values, so Ford again. The other Plus is my dealership: the service reps are truly working for my benefit. There was one instance where my brake disks were warped way too soon; Ford Canada wouldn't allow warranty coverage. Atom Posted March 14, 2015 Report Share Posted March 14, 2015 I got to sit in a 2015 Ford Edge yesterday. It was a preproduction model, being shown by a Ford Training and Product Specialist. I could have gotten the "Training" and "Product" reversed. What was great is that the specialist was there to train the sales people and my saleman called me to rush right over. The specialist explained all sorts of things that I don't think I would have discovered on my own. I ordered a Titanium AWD with 3.5 engine. Now I think I should have ordered a 2.7 EcoBoost, which doesn't come on the Titanium. Fortunately, my dealer will allow me to switch. I ordered based on photos and reviews. I have never been in a Ford Edge before. Before sitting in the new Edge, yesterday, my wife referred the Edge as the car I want to buy. Now it is the car she wants to buy! We like the back seat that the wheel well doesn't impede an adult getting into the back seat. It is a strange feeling getting into the new Edge's back seat. Here are a couple of important things to consider when buying the 2015 Edge.... 1) If you are going to put a rack on the top, don't get the panorama moon roof. If you do, you will have a high chance of scratching and cracking the glass and it is a BIG piece of glass. If you do get the moon roof, the specialist said that 3M sells a protective sheet to go over the glass. It will help with the scratches and the glass shattering into your cockpit. 2) If you want a tow bar, order through Ford. Do not do aftermarket. The lift sensor, for the hatch, is right were the tow receiver would be. The receiver will interfere with the foot sensor. If ordered through Ford, they install 2 foot sensors, one of each side, so the tow receiver does not block them. 3. I posted in another thread Sync3 will not be a software upgrade to MFT if you buy now. 4. I ordered Magnetic, but the black (or whatever Ford calls it) has multi color specks in it. Looks cool, close up, in the sun light. The Edge was dirty, so I didn't see the full effect. You may want to see the colors before ordering, not online like we did. 5. Of course the Turbo. JACKIE Posted March 23, 2015 Author Report Share Posted March 23, 2015 I received the VIN for my new 2015 Edge on March 19th, 2015. They said the order has arrived at the plant. But no build date yet. I know there are other VINs already assigned a while ago, but not aware of any deliveries yet. Bronze Fire is the color I went with. Hope it isn't too orange. I have Ruby Red now. Can't go wrong with red, but I felt like a change, there are so many red Edges on the road right now. Also, AWD with V6, same as my 2008. The Edge has been my first vehicle that I knew I would get another one without even considering another other vehicle. I think that speaks volumes for this Make/Model. Buying sight-unseen is a bit nerve racking, so thanks for all the feedback! Mine is being built in Canada, so may those of you in Canada will receive yours first? We have a document called preview order # Z130 dated 03/13/2015 ( $500 deposit and ordered same day by Al P------ ) for a 2015 Edge Titanium , price level # 520 , priority code 10 , type RETAIL ,from Skagit Ford , Burlington , WA ... now , my rep says my order is placed but he cannot show me any factory confimation in writting ... when and what type of confirmation should I reasonably expect ... when should they recieve a vin number and/or window sticker ? ... It's a little disconcerting since I am in the heavy machinery business and most companies we deal with acknowledge orders almost over night these days ... We have driven premium brands for many years until now , this new Edge appears to have all of the premium features/options balancing size and power with MPG ie: it appears to be about the size as my wifes ML but with more HP and 50% better gas mileage ... needless to say we are anxious to see the final product. sarflipped Posted April 7, 2015 Report Share Posted April 7, 2015 I ordered a AWD Titanium as well. impact Blue after trading in my 2011 Limited. Got all the bells and wisthles.But had to show the dealer the better price I got online to get a better price and rate. Was worth the effort though as it brought down price and halved the interest rate. Should mention I am in Canada. I don't usually order anything that is the first edition but I took a leap of faith with new Titanium.Was disappointed that Sync 3 is not going to be in the 2015 models. I am a geek so did not mind the sync 2 issues but I think the new hardware in sync 3 will make the system more responsive and quicker. sarflipped Posted April 7, 2015 Report Share Posted April 7, 2015 I ordered last week. Do not have any info yet as to Vin number etc. Just a 6 to 8 weeks approx.from dealer. They do not even have the new models in the showroom yet either so I am not expecting to get anything even within that approx date.
