mwhit
Has anyone experienced this condition? We have a 07 Edge with 9500 miles on the clock. In the past few months my wife has noticed a whining noise during deceleration or coasting down a grade. If you shift into neutral the noise stops, pull it back in drive and the noise is back. I had it to the dealer today and they are investigating with Ford engineers. The 1st thing they are considering doing is replacing the transfer case to see if the noise goes away. As I learned this was a problem in some very early units, but our Edge’s VIN number is above the problem units. Any input would be appreciated. It is not a loud sound even now but has been increasing over the past months. Turn down your tunes and give a listen for it.
mwhit
I just wanted to provide an update on my transmission whine issue. Our dealer had the Edge for the past 2 weeks. They worked with the Ford Engineers to determine the problem. What they found was a transmission gear was not machined properly and was not meshing properly causing the noise on coast or decel. No more noise, not too happy the whole transmission was torn apart, but if they did it properly all should be well. If you have a noise, you may also have a bad gear.
