A way to re-download and re-install Sync software?

Recommended Posts

I updated my wife's '11 Edge Sport a few months ago (when we first bought it), and although this fixed a number of glitches, it also brought out some new ones. I've read a million threads and learned that many of the "new" glitches are "normal", but I'm still curious about attempting a re-install to see if that helps anything. The trouble is, I don't have the file(s) anymore, and the Ford website doesn't give me the option to download it again because it says I'm currently up to date. Even if I could get the file(s), would the vehicle allow me to do a re-installation, or would it just tell me that I already have that software version and installation is not necessary?

Thanks!

Hi wes8393,

akirby is correct, you can't re-download the update if you've already reported it back to us. If you didn't and your SYNC account still reflects an older version, you'd be able to download it, but your Edge won't accept the software again. It'll tell you on the MyFord Touch screen that you're up to date. A dealer can reload the software; however, we may be able to troubleshoot your concerns and save you a trip. What's going on?

I want to completely update my Sync software (since I'm probably running the 3.2), but when I go on to the Owner site, it says that my software is up to date, and that was way back in 2013 when the car was originally purchased (I purchased it a couple weeks ago as a Pre-Owned). The navigation says "SD Card Fault" and gives a date from back in May of this year. Why not this? How can I update everything without any out-of-pocket costs (since I'm a broke man - lol)?

Hi I have a ford everest 2017 Model and i have a similar problem i cannot redownload the latest update and lost the file - Ford tells me i have the latest software but my car keeps trying to do the update over WiFi which fails over and over again. Ford dealer tells me that it will take them 2 days to redo the software as they have to do it via an internatio nal web site. This seems a bit excessive they didn't even know about the Android Auto integration so i am a bit concerned i may get a Hyundai back ?. this is what i have left of the file i downloaded. The pic shows the update it tries to run over and over.image.thumb.png.67d38ca62d8fb13b8b99aba5c5b00a57.png
