Larry
Hello, My 13 Sel probably rides as it should. No shipping blocks in the springs etc. My question. Is the suspension the same in a 13 Lincoln MKX or do these vehicles have a smooth ride? It's hard to believe Ford would different suspension parts in the almost identical vehicles but you never now. The only other complaint is the Paint. I have a few very small chips that go to the primer. I would think the paint would be thick or touch enough so to scatch instead of chip. fishx65
Two biggest things I noticed between my 11 Edge and 13 MKX: The suspension on the MKX it way softer and the steering uses a lot more power assist. Probably a combination of different shocks/struts along with spring rates to achieve the softer ride.
Larry
Thanks for your feedback. I may check if MKX suspension will fit the Edge. Has anyone checked this out or made the swap? Larry
akirby
Not hard to believe at all Larry. The suspension is tuned for each individual vehicle. They even use different springs/shocks/struts for different engines in the same vehicle sometimes. I don't know that the MKX suspension itself is softer. Send Waldo a PM - he would know the details and whether the swap is a good idea based on what you're looking for.
Larry
Akirby, I checked on the ford site for part numbers. If I didn't see wrong the Edge and MKX use the same suspension parts. I don't have any idea what tuned suspension means. I always thought same part number same fit and performance. Larry
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Tuned suspension would include springs, stabilizer bars, etc in addition to shock absorbers/struts. Even bushings can be different.
akirby
They could be the same - for the same engine. But different engines usually get slightly different springs at least to account for the weight difference. That's why i said to PM Waldo - he'll know for sure. RFeirstein
Larger wheels tend to ride harder, what size are on yours?
