Choice of brake disks after damage. How to change and what to change?

Hello. In an adjacent branch I already reported that at me not really well put with my Caliper. To everything it damaged to me from the inside a brake disk. Now I need to change also a brake disk. Time approached to change these parts under the own steam, but my damages gave me pulse (I don't want more than such pulses). Now my brake disks have the following size: damaged 2.5 cm thick (left) and right (not the damaged 2.7 cm). I want to consult to you, whether I can make changeover only of the damaged disk? Or me to change both the left disk and right? Whether my not damaged brake disk, after all there 2.7 cm is so bad. It looks healthy).

My second question: what brand of a brake disk to me to select? Now productions Ford (it is made in Europe) and Raybestos are available to me. What from these to me to select two? or there can be you to me advised to buy something another, to make upgrade, how at those sporting guys with red Caliper))? I don't joke, can be there are optimum decisions on upgrade towards improving? Or to leave that that is already set? I ask you your thoughts!

p/s: Now my odometer shows more than 120 000 KM, I shipped the car to the USA in 2011 with indications on the odometer of 80000 KM. I mean passed a little more than 40 000 KM. During this time I never changed brake disks, they were in a good shape, as well as receptacles, my survey always in the spring and in the fall in case of change of disks with rubber (tires).

Change the rotors (disks) in pairs. The pulse is due to warped rotors, so they have to be replaced. If you have the ability to purchase CERAMIC pads you may find them to be longer lasting, but you should really look for HIGH CARBON steel rotors to match them up together. Remember the heavier the rotor is the better. Check the wieghts of each brand and you will find the better ones wiegh more.

If ceramic are not available go with the semi metalic and the better rotors. There is one video on the net on a guy replacing the brakes and rotor on his MKX on youtube this will also most likely assist you in your DIY on the brakes.

Sounds like the rotors & pads that came with the Edge (Ford?) worked well for you. Look at the parts numbers stamped/printed on them to determine what you currently have. I think going OEM would be fine, just a matter of cost. If you want to upgrade the performance, you can go with StopTech or PowerStop brake kits (rotors/pads), but only if you are doing all 4 rotor/pad sets.

You can also gain performance simply by using new OEM/Ford rotors with aftermarket pads like EBC Yellowstuff or Redstuff, Hawk HPS, etc. Like mac said, ceramics will wear down rotors faster, but provide a quieter and dustfree braking experience. Semi-metallics will save your rotors, but will be a bit noisier and dusty. The OEM/ford rotor/pad combination is a good compromise, as long as you are happy with the performance.

Thanks for your help. I have a question: whether brake disks differ with diameter? The OEM disk is declared as 17'', but I saw disks, other brands with other diameters, for example 11 ". This is true, they happen different diameters? I know, what the more a disk (the thermolysis is better), the better but how the disk with a smaller diameter will approach a support? I won't understand? The support isn't regulated. Thanks.

I read this link, here to be told about 17 "as I understand now, it not the size of a brake disk, but the wheel size. It misled me, I thought of the size of a brake disk ). Thanks.
