EDST777
Hi! Simple question. I will change the DOT 4 (DOT3) brake fluid, but in the user's guide volume for full replacement isn't specified, someone knows it? It is 1 liter, 2 liters or how many?) Thanks! macbwt
Not really sure but start with the 1 liter. I can not imagine it would be much more than that and if you bleed the brakes with 1 liter you most likely have changed out the entire system.
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
1L should be plenty, unless the brake fluid is heavily contaminated, in which case you might want to run extra fluid through the system while bleeding.
EDST777
I didn't change brake fluid four years of possession, there is a desire to replace it now, what signs of changeover? Usually each three years recommend changeover, it is correct for Ford EDGE? Thanks.
macbwt
I just bled out the system on my 2011 last weekend. Video to come. I did not use the entire 32oz bottle only about 3/4 of the bottle.

Moisture/rust build up in the fluid over time. There is no brake fluid official recommendation for the Edge that I know of, but it is a part of routine inspection every time you visit the service center for oil change etc.
macbwt
Here is a video that MercyGirl and I made last weekend bleeding the brakes. Not all the video I took was usable because the camera was having focusing issues, but this is what I was able to salvage. Take a look and hope it helps. Just a note if you bleed the rears with this method look to pump and release about 12 times for the rears and about 6-8 times for the fronts. This should be sufficient to clear the old fluid.
