catyscakes05
Ok I had Best Buy install a viper remote start on my car today. Just got out of it and noticed the radio turned off when I turned the car off (usually the radio stays on until I open the door, even with the key out of the ignition). Than a message pops up on dash board display and radio display saying "low battery, turn off vehicle to save power" and I notice the battery light is on when this is happening. Plan on calling Best Buy in the morning, but curious if anybody else has had this issue before?
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Sounds like the alarm system is drawing too much power (may not be properly installed), the battery cables were not properly tightened, or the battery was already on its' last legs. If the cables are tight on the battery posts and show no movement, I'd have the battery checked especially if it has never been changed. Ideally it will be A] 12.6V or higher with no key in ignition/no doors open/etc. and B] 13.8-14.4V when engine is running, no accessories/lighting on. If it is outside the range in B, it could be the alternator, but that has seldom been a problem on the Edge.
macbwt
Just a note: In my city a dedicated car stereo/remote alarm/remote start dealer installer place this on his sign across the street from Best Buy: "We fix Best Buy free installations"
catyscakes05
Well I got in this morning and drove to work, took the key or and everything worked as normal, and no message about the battery. So here is to hoping everything is ok now.
fishx65
Happens every time the battery runs down or is disconnected for to long. It resets after a while. Probably a good idea to put that battery on a charger for a while even though everything seems fine.
