straycat76
Hello. I just purchased my 2013 Edge LTD last month, and I'm already starting to run into a couple little issues/quirks I was hoping you fine folks could help me out with. Nothing major (at the moment), but I'd rather get them taken care of... 1. While running the auto climate control, and the car has attained the desired temp, the heater just starts blasting hot air on it's own. It has happened twice now, both with at a stop light, and both after driving it about 25 miles...so its plenty warm in the cabin. I can either turn off the auto climate by reducing the fan speed, or if I leave it on full blast it will reduce again by itself. So yeah, phantom blower. 2. Right after the first time the phantom blower above tried to turn my Edge into a sauna, the radio volume decided to go up very loudly by itself. This only happened once, but still weird considering it happened right after the heater thing above. Phantom Edge? 3. This evening after pulling into the driveway, I pulled the key out of the ignition and opened my door. However, my door yelled at me as if my key were still in my ignition. I checked the lights to make sure I hadn't bumped them off the auto setting, they were good. I closed the door, chime went away. It's almost as if the ignition was still sensing a key in it. I restarted the car and tried to replicate, but no go. Like I said, I've had the car less than a month...haven't even made my first payment and I'm coming across these issues. (I wont even get into the door ajar sensor issue I had last week)...I really don't want to regret this purchase 30 days into it here... So do any of you guys have any advice? I did some searching on the site, but some of the issues are somewhat tricky to search for. I really appreciate anything you guys can provide. WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Welcome, Matt, and sorry to hear you are already having issues with the Edge. Do you have warranty coverage? Sounds like a bad climate control module for #1 & 2. For #3, replacing the ignition switch might do the trick, or it might be a wiring connection in the steering column. Yeah, it's my first Ford coming from a long line of Toyotas. With that, I made sure to purchase Ford's extended warranty (6yr/100k) vice a 3rd party just in case some wacky thing(s) started happening. What I wasn't expecting was those wacky things to happen so soon. Regarding #3, my ignition is actually located in the dash not the steering column. I see older models they were installed there though. I'll keep an open eye/ears for them happening again. If it continues, and isn't an easy DIY fix, then I'll take her to the shop. Thanks! Libra1224
As far as #2 goes could the radio system be set to increase volume as interior noise gets louder? (Such as rolling down the windows) I forgot the name of this but can be adjusted in the settings.
