Dig67
Just wondering if anyone elses Edge does this.....after using the washer, the wipers go for 3 swipes, but when I think the swipe "cycle" is done, approx. 5 seconds later the wipers swipe one more time....not good on a dry windshield!! As stated in the manual (page 91 in mine), this is a normal (and engineered) occurance that Ford refers to as a "Courtesy Wipe" (not to be confused with the "courtesy flush" :eek5: ), and is intended to get that last drip crawling down the windshield after a washer squirt. I agree though that more often than not it streaks a clean window that has no lingering drip...
kevinb120
I'm seeing this as a trend on a lot of newer cars, I'm not crazy about it either. First Ford that did it was the 2000 Focus. It's hit or miss as only a few Ford's do that.

I noticed that you have the 2008 model, I have a 2007 and nowhere in my manual does it refer to a "Courtesy Wipe". I guess Ford (even though they have had this feature going back to the 2000 Focus as stated) must of realized the omission in the 2007 manual and added it for 2008. Good_Hands
I would actually welcome a courtesy wipe to get that last, lingering drip.
kevinb120
I would actually welcome a courtesy wipe to get that last, lingering drip. That would be a courtesy shake :shades:
Good_Hands
That would be a courtesy shake :shades: Depending on what is used to do the "wipe" - it could be much better. :hyper: Edited December 28, 2007 by Good_Hands
