WE WANT APPS ON MY FORD TOUCH!

Recommended Posts

LS,

Thanks for the great response.

I agree the screens are great. I don't use the nav voice, so maybe that is where it explains the context. I find nav voice annoying.

The bluetooth is a great idea. Thanks.

I am so spoiled by the Google Maps search function, it is hard to adapt to this. I will look into Mapquest.

I agree the easiest is to speak the address into Nav. But is there a verbal command to change the state when searching by address?

Good idea on the services function. I didn't realize I get all those free calls. Thanks.

I have tried to use Sync Destinations, but I have not been able to get the information sent to my car successfully. Do you know the trick?

Thanks,

Cody

It's funny, I have had problems using the Mapquest Send to Car function, but never had a problem with the Sync Destination sending it. I just used the app on Tuesday and sent directions to the car with no problem. I think I have trouble with Mapquest because of using Firefox and some ad blocker software. Not really sure, but every once in a while I get it to work.

I haven't had to change the state in a while, and I honestly don't recall how to do it. Hopefully someone else following this can provide the info.

Thanks. Unfortunately, The Play Store says none of my devices are compatible (S4, S5). It only says 'no carrier'. I suspect, again, this is a US only app.

For what it worth, I had read Ford has opened up it's code for developers. I 'm a new member (and owner) so I have not included a link.

Search for MyFordTouch and "open source"

Long story short, Ford is allowing the opensource community to develop apps for MFT. Ford is not doing, checking, or financing this, so it will be at your own risk.

It could happen when an owner who has the programing skills needed, writes whatever app he wants and releases it to the public. There is no guarantee it will ever result in anything, just there is (some) hope on the horizon.

To me, I think changing the HU to an Ardroid based system may be the most promising, and using phone screen mirroring as NAV ect. This too may not end up being worth it.

Just my $.02
