Starting a SYNC update on a non-navigation equipped Edge?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

i recently downloaded the Gen1-3.1 Sync update for my 2010 Ford Edge. I've put the update file on a USB thumb drive and I'm ready to update my system. Unfortunately, non of the methods I've found to actually initiate the update seem applicable to my very basic non-navigation equipped SYNC system. Simply inserting the USB drive into the USB port has no effect!

How do i get SYNC to start an update from the USB drive on my system?

Thanks,

John

Hi John,

Like akirby mentioned, the thumb drive must be formatted as FAT32. Also keep in mind that the update will not work if the USB has U3 encryption or is password protected. Let me know which type of computer you're using if you need assistance formatting the USB to FAT32.

Once you've verified that the USB is set up correctly, follow these instructions to download the update: http://support.ford.com/sync-technology/download-software-updates-sync
