Mustang06
Hello, My family and I are thinking about taking a trip to see my mother in Duluth, Minnesota for Christmas. I live in South/Ga. so I of course I don't have snowtires on my Edge. I've driven in snow a little but I'm sure Minnesota is going to be alot worse than what I have drivin in. Sooo.. How much do snowtires really help? Do you think that I would be ok as long as the roads have been cleared? Are the highways usually in good shape? Thanks ahead for any info you may give. Kingair Pilot
We live here in Northern Michigan and get 160 inches a year I had the same question and spent the weekend with the local Ford service manager. His advise "dont buy them till you need them I think you will be surprised". to say the least I am I think it pulls better than my F150 4X4. Lots of grip and little slip with the stock tires. Now remember you are not used to the snow and that will make a difference but I would not waste my money on snows. Mustang06
Thanks Mike for your reply. I did some reading up on snow tires and came to your conclusion.I'll just need to slow down and I'll be ok. On another note"160 inches of snow"!Ouch!I'll take my mild snowless winters and muggy summers anytime:).. Gene
