I added an After-market Kenwood DNX7100 Navigation with a Pioneer amp (Kenwood amp wouldn't fit under the rear seat), 4 Kenwood Excelon 280w 2-way door speakers, & Sirius. jeffreybehr
I've replaced all 4 of my doors' speakers. See http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?sho...p;hl=front+door If you replace your subwoofer and would consider selling it, pls PM me. Rangoon
I added an After-market Kenwood DNX7100 Navigation with a Pioneer amp (Kenwood amp wouldn't fit under the rear seat), 4 Kenwood Excelon 280w 2-way door speakers, & Sirius. Nice looking unit. Do the steering wheel controls still work with the aftermarket units? Also, do you have Sirius? Thanks, Scott
cursedgriffin
Hello all, I just bought a 2007 Ford Edge SEL I dont have the money right now to replace the head unit, i was looking for high quality speakers and maybe an amp to power the new speakers. I really wanted to replace the factory speakers in the car. From what I have read here on the forums, the Infinity Kappa 682.7cf speakers are the best. If anyone thinks there are better speakers please let me know!!! I really want clarity with moderate bass. I wasnt planning on getting tweeters installed. Will the audio from 4 of the kappa infinity speakers be really clear with a moderate amount of bass? Also, I believe i will need an amp to run 4 of the inifinity kappa speakers...Can anyone recommend an amplifier that would be powerful enough to power 4 of the Infinity Kappa 682.7cf? I want the amplifier to fit under the second row seats! Many thanks in advance! Edited January 29, 2008 by cursedgriffin
akirby
Try it with just the speaker upgrade first - you may be surprised at the difference. Polk Audio would be an alternative to the Infinity Kappas - both are excellent. If you do get an amp, check the ohm rating on those speakers. IIRC the Infinity Kappas are 2 ohm rather than 4 ohm. CreamEDGE.
The Kappa's are close to 3 ohm(show up at around 2.95 ohm) they're fine on most amps.

I know they fit in the front.. but I understand they will NOT fit in the back as the depth in the rear doors is not deep enough and these speakers will hit or push on the mesh grill when you go to put the rear door panels back on... can you confirm or deny this please? also, if you did do this.. what do you think about the sound improvement from these actual speakers? I am going to watch this thread because I am considering the same thing. It's hard to consider changing the head unit without changing the speakers. OxmanWI
Sorry to bump an old thread, but I have a quick question. If you upgrade to a aftermarket head unit, will you loose the steering wheel controls? Thanks, Josh
akirby
Yes, unless you get an adapter.
