tji
I tried to get a look at my brake pads on my '08 MKX, but couldn't see much. Is there any trick to getting a look in there, or do I need to remove the wheels?
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
You will have to remove the wheel AND the caliper to get a really good look. What is the issue of concern?
ls973800
Most of the time, there is no need to remove the caliper if you just want to see how much brake pad is remaining. The wheel will have to come off though. Calipers have an opening or "window" which allows you to see the pads and the edge of the rotor. This will give you a good idea of how much pad is remaining. You can even measure them to see exactly how much is left.
Waldo
If you're creative enough with a mirror, you can get in there without the wheel off.
