stingrayman
Hello all: I have a 2014 Edge with the myford sync touch system and I have two fobs, 1 is the admin fob and the other is a mykey fob. The mykey fob has only one restriction selected, that restriction is "volume limited", no other restrictions are applied. My 23 yr old son is allowed to use my Edge, to do so he uses the mykey fob with the volume limited. The reason he has this restriction is because he ruined every speaker in my last car, but I digress. The problem: When he attempts to listen to Sirius radio channels that have adult content the display indicates its blocked by "mykey"? When I use my admin fob to start the Edge I have full access to all Sirius channels. I can see a "parental controls" button in the Sirius "options" section on my touch display however the button is grayed out and does not function when touched? I have tried every way I can think of to have this button become active but in spite of giving it my all I have failed to gain access to this "parental controls" section. Any help would be appreciated, Stingrayman Edited October 3, 2014 by stingrayman
akirby
Were you moving when you tried to access it? Some things aren't enabled while moving.
akirby
Actually it may be a standard feature that you can't disable. We have the equivalent of a V-Chip that will allow parents to filter-out certain adult programming on satellite radio. In SIRIUS radio they actually broadcast a little code for adult programming and so when My Key is turned on, we look for that code and if that code is present in the channel that the MyKey driver is listening to it will suppress that channel and a message will be on the radio that says, that has been suppressed by MyKey, said Andy Sarkisian, safety planning and strategy manager at Ford. stingrayman
Thanks for the reply and the quote from Andy Sarkisian at Ford, I see he says "We have the equivalent of a V-Chip that will allow parents to filter-out "certain" adult programming on satellite radio". The word "certain" offers a glimmer of hope, it would seem that it should be a choice after all as the Sirius subscriber I should have a say, right? If anyone now or into the future has any fix to this issue I'd love to hear it. Thanks again
akirby
I think that refers to whether the v-chip flag is enabled by Sirius, not that you can choose it yourself. See if our local Ford rep can get the answer for you.
