f150bft
We bought a '10 Edge limited used and we are enjoying it quit well. So far. My wife drives it and has had no problems with the Sync system until she got a new phone, the Note 3. Now the system won't stay connected to her phone. Sometimes it works and sometimes it won't. Any Ideas as what to look at settings wise? She leaves the Bluetooth on all the time. I have tried un-pairing and then setting it up again.....same issues. We never know when its going to work. Thanks
chipworkz
I have the Note 3 as well. I have not had the Bluetooth connection drop once I am in the car and it is connected. What I have seen, and this is the Note 3 issue not the car, is that IF the car is the only Bluetooth connection you are using, it will automatically connect when you get in the car. IF you use a Bluetooth headset with the phone and it is connected when you get in the car, you have to go into the phone and select "Sync" to change to connection over to the car instead of the headset. So without getting more details about what you mean by "Now the system won't stay connected to her phone." as in it drops the connection when driving vs not connecting when you get in the car, it is hard to say. If it isn't what I described as I have seen, does she use the phone with another Bluetooth device? Any issue with the phone staying connected to another device?
f150bft
Thanks for your reply chipworkz, The Edge is her only Bluetooth connection. When she is driving and makes a call using Sync it tells her no phone found or if a all comes in while she is driving it just rings the phone and not through Sync. This is not the case every time but seems to be most of the time. She had a cheap smartphone before the Note 3 and it work every time flawlessly, I think it was a Samsung "Stratosphere?". The only thing I can think that might be an issue is, that her work has put an Auto lock on the phone because she uses it also on the job. I have noticed the phone doesn't show the Bluetooth symbol when its locked but when I unlocked it it's there......
akirby
This was noted by a T-mobile rep: Do you have any third party calling and/or texting apps installed on the phone? If so, these have been known to cause problems with calling while connected through Bluetooth and it might be worth uninstalling these. If not, please attempt a soft reset of the phone by removing the battery, leaving the phone off for a minute and reinserting the battery. chipworkz
Try what akirby suggested and also check what version MFT software you are running. If it is not the latest, it may have a compatibility issue with the Note 3 (Newer phone) vs the older phone you were using. I personally have never had any Bluetooth connection issues with my phone for the car or the other various Bluetooth devices I have used with it. My MFT version is the latest of 3.6.2 Regarding the lock screen, I haven't seen that as an issue either but you can try bumping up the screen timeout to 10 minutes to see if it happens while the screen is still on. Just don't leave it that way or her battery won't last to long. ;-) In the main (center Screen):Settings>Help>System Information>CCPU S/W VersionCheck the number in the middle:If it was 13171, then you have version 3.6.2 (latest North America)If it was 12285, then you have version 3.5.1If it was 12156, then you have version 3.2.2If it was 12023, then you have version 3.0.2 (the 1st “Performance upgrade” released in March 2012)Less than that, it is a very old version. f150bft
I'm not sure about the software version. Ours don't have the touch screen. So I don't think there is a "help" button? I could be wrong, I don't get to drive it often....lol. We will try the soft reset on her phone and I will dig into it some more. Thanks for the help and advice. f150bft
According to the ford sync web site, our Edge has Gen1 V3.1 dated 01-26-2010 and it says its up to date?
akirby
That may be correct for regular Sync.
FordIVTteam
I can check your software if you'd like, f150bft. Just shoot your VIN over in a private message. Also, is the auto lock an app that her company installed, or is it the phone lock you can get to in the settings of her phone? f150bft
Thanks Rebecca, I am sending it over now. The auto lock came in an E-mail and we can not get rid of it unless we do a hard reset. Her company requires it to be there because of her contacts and some personal info of customers. I have set it to NOT lock for 30 mins after the screen times out , this is the max time setting. Neither of us can remember if the trouble started after the lock was installed or not. FordIVTteam
You're welcome! I just responded to your PM, but I want to post here as well (in case anyone else has this issue). Due to the restrictions some companies place on the work phones, it can cause this issue. The lock they install disables the phone from "talking" to SYNC and the other way around.Rebecca
