Protecting the front hood of my SEL

Way back when I got my Ford Explorer (1996) the Bra was the rage. It did protect for a bit until it got grungy and then trapped stones and bits inside and ended up destroying the front of your car.

My wifes 2006 Kia has one of those plastic wing front deflectors. It has non of the problems of trapping debris, but I have no idea how bad it effects the wind resistance and in turn the fuel economy. On a 3.5L V6, you need all the help you can get to keep the engine from sucking the fuel tank dry. (and I simply didn't like the way the ecoboost drove on all the cars I test drove).

What are the current going options that make sense for this type of vehicle?

thanks

Venture shield clear bra is hands down the best protection you can buy. Virtually invisible. It's not cheap but it works! My brother in law and a few other friends have had them on their daily driver cars for a number of years.

I think I'm gonna have it installed on my new sport since I do more highway driving now.
