Mbrockman5
For the past few days, I've noticed a strange "Grinding/Rubbing" noise(not squealing)coming from my R.R. Wheel area of my 2011 Edge SE. I'm not sure if it's the brakes or what. It doesn't do it the entire time I'm breaking, It only happens right before a complete stop at around 5-10 mph(even if it just inches along). This morning, when I was going thru a stop sign, I heard the grinding as I stopped and it continued for a split second after releasing the brake pedal while the wheels were slowly spinning. My other cars brakes squealed when the pads wore down. So I'm lost and hoping for some ideas....Thanks
Mbrockman5
Well....never mind. It took me $507.96 to figure it out.
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Sure sounds like a sticking caliper. What did it turn out to be?
Mbrockman5
My original thought of it not being the brakes was very wrong. As it turned out, both inside pads on the rear brakes were Metal to Metal, both calipers and both rotors short(right side worse then left, hence only noticing the right), but the outer pads were barely worn at all. I Ended up having to replace the entire rear brake system.

WWWPerfA_ZN0W
That gets expensive in a hurry! My sympathies They should come up with sealed slide pins to prevent this type of thing from happening so easily. How many miles on your Edge, if I may ask?
