Hitchin
This is my first post so if I'm on old ground please forgive me. We just purchased a new 2014 Edge AWD Limited and love it. However........we want to use this as our primary vehicle and our towed vehicle behind our motorhome. My concern is whether mileage will accrue as we flat tow our vehicle. I called Ford USA who told me it would not. I read an article in Motorhome Magazine that said it would. I called back to Ford USA who transferred me to Ford Canada they had no answer for me and the lady had terrible English! I tried calling Ford Canada again and this time got a lady whose English was even worse. I recalled Ford USA and this lady with good English could only quote me from the vehicle manual which does not cover this issue. I tried my dealership they said mileage would accrue on their advice I called Remco and they felt it would not. Somebody on this forum, I'm sure can answer the question for me "does mileage accrue when an Edge is flat towed with the transmission in neutral and the start button set at accessory mode" Please put me out of my misery. chipworkz
I can't answer your question but in regards to toying it in Neutral, are you using an auxiliary pump to circulate the transmission fluid? From what I have seen before, you aren't supposed to toy an automatic transmission in Neutral since the fluid isn't flowing and does not lubricate the moving parts. A vehicle with a transfer case that can be put into Neutral wouldn't have this issue. Another option is a FWD vehicle with a toy dolly. Just throwing this out there in case you haven't looked into this. I hope someone else can answer you mileage question. Chris
