EDST777
Hello guys. I own FORD EDGE 2008 Limited AWD 3.5. My run of 114 000 km. I wish to replace an automatic transmission fluid in an automatic transmission and there are problems in the solution of this business. I don't know what automatic transmission fluid was filled in pregoing time because I am the second owner, the car was shipped on 83 000 km. According to the user manual replacement by Dexton VI is recommended, usually it is liquid of red color, for example as here: on 06.18 minute. But I filled in yellow liquid and I don't know a brand. I think to make full replacement independently three times that I worry to mix liquids. Whether report someone on services applied a yellow automatic transmission fluid? Whether replacement on red is possible, for example, after all the part of liquid, even small, remains not replaced? As far as my replacement and how me to avoid possible troubles will be dangerous? Thanks. Edited August 30, 2014 by EDST777
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
If you are not currently experiencing any problems, don't worry about remaining "yellow" mixing in with the "red" fluid. Do the 3x exchange with the "red" fluid, make sure there are no metallic particles in the fluid you drain, and you should be good to go as far as fluid is concerned. For the 2008 Ford Edge, you should be using Mercon V, not Dexron anything. 05stram
sounds like DTE 24 used in twin disc transmissions in marine applications. Problem is it does not have the heat removal rating of red Mercon fluid because of the liquid cooling in marine applications. I would flush until I got back to red.
EDST777
Thank you friends. So, if I understood you correctly, I should go back to red Mercon V , with the replacement of three times in a row? According to my calculations this replacement will take approximately 15-20 liters. Did I understand correctly? Thank you.

WWWPerfA_ZN0W
It states in the specs that it is Mercon V compatible, that's all you need. Valvoline ATF is generally a good product. Make sure NOT to confuse Mercon V and Mercon LV. They are NOT compatible. So check when you receive the product what it says on the back, or ask the seller for that image.
