shantz
In the process of having one of my 20" Limited wheels refinished. I had a damaged wheel off another vehicle, and was successful in removing the chrome cap. One of my customers is in the process currently of refinishing the wheel now - will post pics when completed. I've taken the route to have the wheel color matched to my Edge - White Platinum Tri-Coat Here is the wheel with the chrome cap removed:
cmillz1331
How was the chrome cap removed?
pjsockett
Wow, that doesn't look very fun to clean up, especially 4 times.
CinnamonEdge
Ive been waiting to see if someone would do this. A wire wheel on a dremel would remove that adhesive with minimal damage to the wheel. I would use a blade to remove the glue off the spokes. That wheel actually looks nice. Well if my wheels get messed up I know what to do. That is going to look sweet on your edge. Good luck. Post some pictures once they are done. shantz
I pried the cap off with a small pry bar. The large glue areas were scraped with a razor blade, then the wheel will be sand blasted before being refinished. I'm only doing the one wheel to start - sort of a PROMO from my wheel company, as they've never done one either...
shantz
The only pitfall I see thus far, is that the OE center cap no longer 'snaps' into place, as it was indexed off the chrome cap... I'll have to sort out some type of retainer or double-sided 3m tape to affix them in place....
CinnamonEdge
I be you the cap from the 18" non chrome clad wheels would fit. I think it is slightly smaller in diameter. Otherwise I would use clear silicone that way they can be removed at a later date for changing tires and such.
shantz
Back from the wheel shop - they look amazing. They did the inner barrels too - they'll be a lot easier to keep clean!

Waldo
Why would you not try to fill in those ugly holes in the spokes next to the lug nuts?
CinnamonEdge
They look great. I like my chrome but if anything happened to them I would do what you did but with a gunmetal metallic. I like the machined holes.
