andchr1
I have a 2013 Edge LTD with remote and keyless start. I can unlock the door with a hand touch, start the car with the push button but then I get an error message "No Key Detected". Yes, the car is still running. It also blows the horn 2 times which is very embarassing. Some have said to be certain my cell phone isn't blockinging or near the fob. But last night I forgot my phone at home and it still gave the same error message and blew the horn. Also sometimes the large indicator for less than 50 miles till empty gas guage will not go away when I press "OK" on the steering wheel. The car is at the dealership right now and so far they are unable to duplicate the problem. Grrrrr...... I am afraid I will end up, as many seem to, stranded with no way to start the vehicle. Any suggestions?
akirby
Where do you keep the key?
motzilla
I used to get this a bunch, I ended up replaced the battery in my key fob and all has been well since.
goatee
I have started to get this problem with my 2011. I always keep one fob in the the car and use my keyless pad to enter and then just push the start button. Now I started to get this message so I changed the fobs, took the spare and put the unused original in the car. Still says no key detected. I push the unlock and lock buttons several times and then luckily it starts. I think my luck will run out soon. Will try to change out both fob batteries. Does anyone else think it may be anything else?
XB70
This has been a problem for the last few days. The fob is in the same pocket as always. The vehicle starts OK. Selecting a gear causes the horn to beep and a message "no key detected" to display. Pressing "OK" on the left steering wheel control turns the message off. Here's what I've noticed so far. The problem only occurs in my garage. It appears to have something to do with the garage door opener. I've not programmed the Home Link function of the Edge. Instead I just clipped the transmitter on the visor. The "no key detected" problem never occurs anywhere else. I don't always carry a cell phone so i am not certain if it could be part of the problem.
CARR142
You could try unpluging the garage door opener, if that convenient.
akirby
Could also be RFI interference from something else in the garage or in the house.
XB70
Yeah, I'm thinking RFI too. Wireless connections of any kind can be affected. My work involves trouble shooting wireless internet problems. There can be some real oddball stuff going on. Treadmills and ceiling fans being two of the most common problems affecting a wireless connection. Some electric motors are better shielded than others. The garage door opener motor has been in place for quite a few years. It doesn't look like a top rated brand either. I'd be happy to put up the brand name and model number if anyone knows anything about these things. Just for grins I'll try to vary the routine a bit. Sometimes I'm in the car using the transmitter to open the door. Other times I hit the wall switch to open the door. This week I'll consistently open the door with the transmitter only. At some point I just need to get serious about reading the manual and programming the Home Link.
akirby
When it happens just unplug the garage door opener (if possible). That should eliminate it at the least.
goatee
Mine ended up being a remote that quit working even after a new battery was installed. Replaced under extended warranty for the $100 deductible. The dealer took an hour or so to program it. So far so good.

onyxbfly
The batteries in the IKT feel like they will last forever right up until they don't hahaha. Go to autozone/ advanced auto etc and they should be able to test your IKT batteries. At the very least they will sell you some new ones and install them free of charge!
