Shadrack
Yesterday, my wife and I got in her 2013 Ford Edge Sport (28k miles) and immediately upon startup, the screen went black then what looked like an old school (Window's 95 type stuff, haha) error box popped up and it said "Windows has encountered a critical error and is shutting down", then the screen turned off. Naturally, my wife and I looked at each other like deer in headlights and just waited for the screen to turn back on or do something. After about a minute, I turned the car off. Waited about a minute, then started the car again. Same result, a black screen. Then after about 30 seconds, the radio turned on, and a SYNC screen came up and said.. "Performing scheduled updates" or something like that. We watched as it rebooted, and once it was complete the screen and all functions came back to life. Is this normal? Should I be alarmed, and let the dealer take a look at it? I know they will say "cannot duplicate problem" back when I had other vehicles in for issues over the years. It's getting close to the factory warranty being up and I'm sure that's expensive to replace! haha
FordIVTteam
Hi Shadrack,Since there was an error before rebooting, I suggest having your dealer take a look. They'll be able to connect it to their diagnostic tools to see if there are any error codes. Let me know how it goes! Rebecca
