Limited59
So far, no recall status has been posted to my VIN-based profile on the official Ford Owner / Lincoln Owner websites. Good luck! Really? Glad your 2012 didn't magically turn into a 2014 - the MY being recalled!
Limited59
Hmmm... something doesn't add up. FMC press release: Ford Issues Safety Recall for Certain 2012-2014 Taurus/MKS/Interceptor, Flex/MKT, Edge/MKX Vehicles in North America for Potential Halfshaft Disengagement Ford is issuing a safety recall for approximately 92,000 (actual 92,022) 2013-2014MY Taurus/MKS/Interceptor sedans and Flex/MKT vehicles, 2012-2014 MY Edge vehicles, and 2014 MY MKX vehicles for a potential issue with the right-hand halfshaft. In some of the affected vehicles, the circlip that retains the right-hand halfshaft to the linkshaft may not have been fully seated during assembly. A halfshaft that is not fully seated may move outward over time. If the halfshaft becomes fully disengaged from the linkshaft, vehicles may experience loss of drive function. Additionally, this condition may result in unexpected vehicle movement if the gearshift is placed in Park without the parking brake being activated. No accidents or injuries have been attributed to this condition. Dealers will inspect to verify the right-hand halfshaft is fully inserted and retained on the linkshaft. If the halfshaft is not fully inserted, dealers will replace the linkshaft and replace the halfshaft if it is damaged. Affected vehicles include: Taurus/MKS: 2013-2014MY vehicles with a 3.5L AWD powertrain built at Chicago Assembly Plant August 25, 2011 November 30, 2013. Police Interceptor Sedan: 2013-2014MY vehicles with 3.5L GTDI AWD, 3.5L & 3.7L TiVCT FWD & AWD powertrains built at Chicago Assembly Plant August 25, 2011 November 30, 2013 Flex/MKT: 2013-2014MY with the 3.5L GTDI AWD powertrain built at Oakville Assembly Plant September 12, 2011 November 29, 2013. Edge: 2012 2014MY with the 2.0L GTDI FWD powertrain built at Oakville Assembly Plant September 2, 2010- November 29, 2013 Edge/MKX: 2014MY with the 3.5L & 3.7L TiVCT AWD powertrain built at Oakville Assembly Plant September 2, 2010 November 29, 2013 As of June 23, 2014, approximately 83,000 are in the U.S. and federalized territories (actual 83,250). Approximately 8,200 are in Canada (actual 8,173) and approximately 600 are in Mexico (actual 599). End quote. Model year 2014 built between September _2010_ and November 2013 ??? Edit: the Transport Canada recall website indicates the recall includes my 2013 MKX. Since the Lincoln website appears to be US only, I cannot check via that method. Guess I will wait for the notice in the mail. Edited July 8, 2014 by Limited59
Haz
As long as my FWD doesn't magically turn into an AWD, I'm okay. Good luck!
DavidE
My 2014 AWD does not show any recalls. Lucky?
