Did you notice the 2015 Sport has a new 2.7 twin turbo ecoboost engine, and the interior dimensions are larger than the current Edge? I will take the 2015 vents and all the new features any day over my 2013 Edge Sport. I cannot wait to get out my 2013 Sport and get into the 2015 Sport. Early next year cannot get here soon enough. And a lot of the exterior (taillamps, grille, etc.). Platform sharing. Oops. Never mind. I guess staring at my Fusion interior for 16 months wasn't enough for me to remember the vents were horizontal. The rest is pretty much Fusion though. I never said that they bothered me. I was just commenting that they went back to a design from a previous generation. Seemed like a step back instead of forward. Just an observation. That's to be expected, since the Edge and Fusion have always shared the same platform. And we'll probably see a lot more common stuff across these models since under Alan Mullaly's "One Ford" global initiative, many vehicles will share platforms like the Edge/Fusion/Mondeo models. And if it isn't ready, it isn't ready. No reason to hold up the entire vehicle just to launch it with a new version of MFT, especially if the rumors of it being compatible with existing hardware are true. They got stuck between a rock and a hard place when they had already committed to the new design with MFT for production but the software crapped out. This is probably one reason they made sure it was backwards compatible so they can upgrade it later on its own schedule and not get tied to a new vehicle launch. They are learning...... If it is programmed properly, there's a decent chance that a faster processor wouldn't even be necessary. The programming would just use the existing one much more efficiently. However, the vertical vents from the 2007-2010 Edge had nothing to do with how weak the air conditioning was. macbwt Posted July 4, 2015 Report Share Posted July 4, 2015 The rear areodynamics have been improved by CONING the rear of the Edge (upsweep from below and a downsweep from above) this is most likely how Ford gained a bit of MPG out of the Edge through the redesign. She drove to work‚ picked up our child enroute home and did not drive to lunch that day. Upon arrival at home‚ she pointed out that the rear vista glass roof panel had cracked for no apparent reason. We dropped it off at Cowles Ford with the expectation the factory warranty or the additionally purchased extended bumper to bumper warranty would cover the issue. Cowles Ford informed us that Ford Corporate told them telephonically how to "test" for an impact area and based on their newly learned "test"‚ they determined it was a rock and an insurance claim instead. I disagreed because there are cracks throughout the entire glass and they do not intersect with the alleged point of impact. I asked my insurer (USAA) to have a claims specialist look in depth as well and she pointed out to the dealer that there are other areas that look the same as their alleged point of impact. They have not been able to answer my questions regarding how can a point of impact on one side of the glass have impacted the numerous other areas cracked as well. Yet despite having no answers‚ Ford Corporate trusts their newly found expertise to deny the claim at the dealership level. This is disingenuous and I won’t stand for it.
