rocketace1
Hello to All: Just found this forum after purchasing an off-lease White Platinum 2012 Edge SPORT AWD, fully loaded. Love the car/truck already. This is my first domestic car ever and hoping that I made the right decision. The sporty 22" rims and motor convinced me to go for it. Drove a few and absolutely had to have it, especially in Platinum White... The car will be delivered Tuesday but always looking to mod my cars, so gotta start a list or two.... Phase-I 1) Short stubby antenna (already ordered) 2) HID kits - Low beam (already ordered from DDM Tuning, 55W 5000K with the relay harness) 3) Turn signal orange plastic to clear plastic (should make the front headlight area more harmonious) 4) Chromed turn bulb (again, should harmonize the entire headlight area) 5) All interior lights swapped to LEDs 6) Angel eye LEDs for the headlight projectors (saw someone on YouTube with this and gotta find a way to add to the car) Phase-2 7) True dual exhaust piping 8) Dual Flowmaster exhaust manifolds (if this is a SPORT trim, then let's hear the exhaust, right? ) 9) CAI (any ideas welcome) 10) Blacked out/swapped out Ford oval logo (front and back) 11) LED tail light assembly (is this available?) Will appreciate any and all help on sourcing these mods or links to pics and sellers. Thanks all and looking to be a part of this forum, helping out others as well. -rocket
Cellbine
Welcome and congrats on your decision to get an Edge! Your phases of modding look good. Swapping all interior lights was a good move. Huge improvement in mine when I did it. Glad you ordered the harness for your HID kit. Seems like someone has been doing his research! Here are my custom headlights, not sure if you have seen my video before but I am starting to see several assemblies just like mine. I ordered and designed mine from a company called Dynamikillu51ons. You can contact them on Facebook by searching for that name. They are on Youtube as well. For your phase II, the only LED tail lights I know about are from Daytime Bright Lites. Here is a link to their website. http://www.daytimebrightlites.com/LED_Taillights.html Many people on this site buy from them. They also have install videos for just about all the products they sell. The owner is one of us and has fantastic customer service. Many members highly recommend him including me! Again, welcome to the site and shout your questions out if you get stuck with anything.
rocketace1
Cellbine: Thanks for the response and the links. You have one of the coolest Edge I have ever seen.... I love your car.... Good job on the very tasteful mods you have done... I checked out that video of your lights.. Oh so coooooollllllllll!!!!! I am sure that's not cheap a$$ and priced outside my headlight mod budget, Between all the 3 other German cars in the stable costing mucho dineros to maintain, I want to keep my mod budget for the Edge manageable, especially in Phase-1. Thanks once again for the warm welcome and helpful links. I am sure I am going to enjoy hanging around this forum and learning lots... arabski
7- Looking at potential true dual piping + exhaust (maybe) You got a transverse engine - is there any "true" dual exhaust pipe set available for edgy?
omar302
You got a transverse engine - is there any "true" dual exhaust pipe set available for edgy? First production 2011 Edge Sport & MKX had true dual exhaust from the factory. It changed sometime end of 2011 or beginning of 2012 to what they call "Quasi-Dual" Exhaust. Was discussed previously, like the below thread. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/9097-2012-ford-edge-sport-single-exhaust/
arabski
thanks Omar! I was wondering what's all this fuzz about because mine is 2013 and has a single straight pipe ;-) Now I get it...
RustyEdge
6- Turn signal Switchback - Ahhhhh!!!! Funny thing here. No white light shows but amber light blinks (left, right and hazard)... so how to fix this issue???? Looks like you need to install a resistor for each light in order to get the correct functionality of the switchback. The same thing happened to me when I installed my type 2 switchbacks but others with the older type 1's don't need a resistor. Once I installed them mine worked as expected but with only one unforeseen complication. On occasion they will hesitate when turning switching from white to amber which is a sporatic issue with the controller on the Edge according to V-LED. See the link below for more detailed info. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/14603-erratic-switchback-behavior/ -Russ
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Congrats on your Edge and welcome to the forum! CAI won't really do much for performance, at least by itself, but can really improve the looks. I assume you have the 3.7L? You could probably add a CAI, bigger TB, dual catbacks ALONG WITH (most importantly) a custom tune (e.g. from Unleashed Tuning in FL torrie@unleashedtuning.com). THEN you would get that SPORTy feeling you so desire :D
rocketace1
Oh wow!!! Thanks everyone for the wonderful support and suggestions. Gotta love the forum for the good people here. How hard is it to add resistors? I found the Edge Sport leans too much around corners. Nothing sporty about that at all. What is the best way to correct that? Put on strut bar in front? Would that work or do I have to change the entire suspension by lowering the car? Won't like to do that at all... Also,
rocketace1
On second thought, I just remembered that on my SLK55 AMG I replaced the amber turn bulbs with stealth/chromed bulbs and got rid of the egg-yellow look on my front headlight assembly area. And it worked perfect (see below) Stock Chromed turn bulb So I am going to take off the LED switchbacks on my Edge and put in chromed turn bulbs (already ordered)... This way, I get a clean front and avoid all the troubles of these switchbacks... If anyone is interested, found it on Ebay at the Link here (clicky clicky...). rocketace1
Swapped out the switchback with a silver-chromed turn bulb. Turns out it was a "greenie" turn bulb. Had no idea until I installed it... But loving it all the same.... No more hyper flashing, and I still get the front fascia look I desire... Love it. Now all of the interior lights and license plate lights converted to LEDs... And then want to add MGP caliper covers... On order. Should be on by end of next week... Mods never end.... Decided against the true dual pipes/exhaust, now seriously considering the H&R lowering springs, but worried about all the crappy roads out here in New England... gotta do something about the ride tho'... Should I or should I not??? Arghhhhh...... Edited July 19, 2014 by rocketace1
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
With the new turn bulbs, you now have an EcoEdge! Nice shade of green at least Still on OEM wheel/tire right? Are the roads in NE very challenging? As long as sufficient tire sidewall is available, I'd think that lowering with H&R should be fine. May have to get an alignment afterwards tho. rocketace1
EcoGreen Edge... You got that right!!! I like the term. And thanks for the help and the props... Sometimes I forget the truck is my wife's and not to mess with it that much. Gotta remind myself...
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Remind yourself ... and move forward anyway! Cautiously though
rocketace1
My MGP calipers shipped today. So looking forward to installing that this week. Seems like some people claim they installed these covers without taking off the wheels. Will be giving this a shot to see if it is indeed true... Pics coming real soon. WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Enough gap in Sport wheels, not enough in SEL zillion-spoke wheels!
rocketace1
MGP caliper covers "EDGE" branded now on. This has to be the easiest mod for an Edge Sport. Literally like 5-10min tops and don't need the wheels off. Ridiculously easy.... Now loving the new look - subtle yet crisp. The ride down the road now makes a statement... Love it.

rocketace1
Today, plasti-dipped the rear badges, except the "AWD". First I dipped the AWD then undipped Just not sure about this badge yet.... But I love the black-colored "EDGE" and "SPORT" on the tri-coat platinum white color (compare it to the chrome version which you can barely see from a distance). You may not see it that well, but I left the "red" flank on the "SPORT" to give it some xter... Next will be swapping out the blue "FORD" oval emblems on the front hood and rear trunk to BLACK. That will mesh with the blackened grill and the plasti-dipped rear emblems as well. And that will complete Phase-I of my mod list (minus the Halo LED headlights). I am pretty happy with the small, but noticeable changes that make the EDGE SPORT stand out from the crowd. After some rest, I will begin Phase-II soon enough. WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Did you make the changes on-car or off? AWD looks good dipped. Might even want to take it off completely.
