Hi,

New to the Edge. I live in canada and we have DRL laws. What is the deal with the LED strip? Does it work when headlights on only or does it come on with DRL headlights. I am not nieve but would like to know if anyone with the drl2 from brightlites can explain why you have to splice into wiring to get this feature, don't we have this feature in Canada. Sorry to sound dumb but I would like to be cautious since i have bumper to bumper warranty till 160,000 KM's.

The original vertical light pipes in the bottom of the bumper are only an accent light. They are only on at night, when headlights are manually switched on or when unlocking your vehicle (courtesy light). They are not normally on during the day unless you manually switch your headlights on. Even if you turn them on manually during the day you can't really see them.

The discussion of DRL (daytime running light) on this forum is mostly from U.S. members where there are no lights on during the day on U.S. vehicles. Canada requires all vehicles to have some sort of forward facing light on during the day. If you have HID headlights on your Edge, the amber turn signals will be on as DRL. If you have halogen headlights, they will be on as DRL

The DTBL Edge2 can replace your OEM light pipes with very bright LED's. These can be wired to be on during the day as additional DRL on a Canadian vehicle. They also have the amber switchback portion that activates with your turn signals.

In order to connect these to your vehicle, you must splice into existing wiring in order to make them work. When wired properly, the DTBL Edge2 will be on at 100% brightness whenever your vehicle is running. When it gets dark or you switch your headlights on manually, DTBL will dim to 70%.

How do we get in touch with the member here who works for or owns LEDBRITELIGHTS.com? I do not have enough posts here to see who members are. I would like to ask him to see if a harness can be made to make the LED light pipe work without splicing into the headlights as I don't want to void waranty. If anyone can help out with this it would be greatly appreciated.
