trading 2 vehicles in

I have 2 fords that are like new! An Edge 2008 with 70k and a 2009 Ranger Sport with 25k.?would like to trade in both for a low low mileage Edge Sport

Neither. It just depends on what you want or need.

All depends on how much money your looking to get for each / how much you owe on each vehicle. In my experience (worked at a dealer for 3 years as a sales person) they offer much less than what you could easily sell the vehicles for. It all comes down to what the dealer appraises your vehicles for- so I'd start there.

If they didn't, they wouldn't make any money. That's why it's called wholesale vs. retail.

Carmax typically gives you $1-2k more than dealers will give you with a trade-in, they make it extremely easy, and won't try to use your trade-in as leverage against you when negotiating the price of your new car.

 

With the last car I bought, the salesperson mentioned that he always uses Carmax and wouldn't trade-in his cars to a dealership.
