SYNC "soft" reset

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Is there a way to perform a soft SYNC reset instead of a hard reset under settings? For some reason, SYNC is seeing that my iphone is connected via a USB and it isn't connected. My understanding is a hard reset will erase and put SYNC back to a factory setup. Does this mean that previous software updates are removed as well?

Thanks in advance for the advice.

I keep a spare USB drive with the delayed reboot app on it (http://outofmytouch.com/reboot.html) in my console. I pop it in (it auto installs) whenever I need a system reboot.

I've tried many fuse pulls and this always resolves any issues I have (especially when I press the sync voice button and the voice never works).

It saved me much time and aggravation. It also retains ALL of your settings (except maybe trip guage and tachometer/fuel display).

Hi Steve,

There is no official soft reboot for MyFord Touch or SYNC. Have you tried rebooting your phone or deleting it from the system and re-pairing? If you have and those didn't work, please perform a master reset:

Like akirby stated, the reset does not change your software. :)

"There is no official soft reboot"

Correct- no reboot built in for you to select- auto programed to happen- ( every 20 hrs if I recall) A built in master reset is DIFFERENT!

Ford did distribute a Direct reboot app to a few & then abruptly stopped. I have one but it is locked down.

The delayed reboot app was derive from an official Ford post on the sync my ride forum that addressed a Sirius channel renaming update a few years back. It was in the announcement section off forum (stayed there for like 2 years & then was again abruptly removed) Then end process of the update was a delayed reboot. This is completely safe to use. I have an email from Ford Tech support on the subject.

Strongly suggest you do a reboot- pull the sync fuse, pull the car battery cable, or download & use the delayed reboot app.

This process has cleaned up many a problems over the almost 4 years of MFT release.
