pinballbob2
I recently had a cracked windshield. I had it replaced with OEM windshield. The part numbers on windshield match so this is a rain sensing windshield. When I got out in the fist rain storm I noticed no rain sensing wipers. I returned to body shop that replaced windshield. They told me they would check in to it for me. Later body shop called and said they checked with Ford and the system would have to be reset .So I went to Ford garage and they tried to reset by disconnecting battery. They were good about it and did not charge me anything. They called Ford and was told I needed to return to person that replaced windshield and they needed to reinstall senser in windshield and maybe replace windshield again. Anyone have a problem like this? Anyone know of a fix for the rain sensing?
akirby
My guess is they didn't connect the sensor.
pinballbob2
Ford checked. They removed cover and verified that plug was hooked up.
pinballbob2
OK. Problem is fixed. After taking back to glass shop and taking it to ford garage problem was not fixed. I then got out manual and after research on internet I figured out what problem was. The knob that controls the speed of delay wiper also controls the sensativity of the rain sensing wipers. The person that replaced windshield in the first place must have turned the delay wipers and in turn turned off the rain sensing wipers. I can't believe the people at ford garage did not know how it operates.Anyway the problem is fixed. Set your delayed wipers speed before you start engine and that also sets the rain sensing wipers to on. Thank you the post akirby.
akirby
Forgot about the option. But don't you have to do that in the menu (auto or manual)? That knob controls the speed of the intermittent wipers in non-auto mode so I don't think setting it before turning on the engine would change anything. pinballbob2
I am just saying you need to have it on. I assume you can turn it after engine is started. All I know is that if it is in Off position and it starts raining the rain sensing wipers will not come on.
teknowiz
The control does inded need to be set to the on positon and higher the setting, more sensitive it is to the rain. It does not matter if you turn it on before or after starting engine.
RetiredUSAF
Pinballbob2 I had the same problem with the wipers not turning off. I turned on wiper control to max, started engine, turned off engine, turned engine back on to test, problem fixed. Thank you to all who was involved with this fix.
