normcloutier
So I found a simple fix for getting the DRL's to light up with the courtesy function. The trick is to use 2 triggers for the electronics module. This is accomplished by connecting a wire from any light that comes on with courtesy such as OEM light pipe, front amber parking light or even the side marker LED to the trigger wire on the electronics box. There is a trick though. You must connect diodes to both the electronics trigger and the courtesy trigger. This prevents voltage from the courtesy trigger going backwards into the fuse box. The courtesy trigger diode must be after the electronics trigger diode. See my high tech illustration. For those of you who are not so mechanically inclined, DTBL will be selling a courtesy light harness adaptor in a couple weeks.. Watch their website for details. kc300c
We now offer a Courtesy Light adapter wire for the EDGE-2 DRLs. This allows our DRL kits to perform the same way as the stock accent lights did. Click on the picture of our webpage below to go right to it. Instructions are just below that. We recommend only using our harness. Damage to the kit due to improper wiring will void the warranty.
normcloutier
Incorrectly connecting the diodes could result in damage to the DRL or worse your electrical system. If in doubt, spend the $20 for the courtesy light adaptor from DTBL.
pjsockett
Can you connect the red wire to the blinker trigger wire or does it have to connect directly to the center wire?
kc300c
You need to connect it to the center turn wire. Connecting our courtesy wire to the blinker wire will only make the DRLs blink on and off with the blinker. PLEASE, ONLY CONNECT THE WIRE AS INSTRUCTED! Thanks.
